Sweet, it just keeps getting faster!
I've only seen one USDM STi in that range, but Ohio is a long way from it.

Scoobie Steve 04-12-2005, 02:59 AM I think its safe to say that there are no subarus in the US that will be competing with that time.

Aren't you the same individual who was talking smack about my friends stock STI. He then asked you to run his race car (Honda CRX - turbo powerd) and then proceeded to hand you the smackdown. :) He said something about you running a 10.6 or 10.7 to his 10.2 pass.
If it is not you then I apologize.

Yea that's probably about right considering gladiel's tuned STi @ 590whp did a 10.x I believe.. Curious on the real numbers tho because of the Evo's 5mt vs/ the shorter geared 6mt in the STi...
MARKGSTI 04-12-2005, 05:29 PM Al will be always Al,....
One thing we all have to repect is the fact the he runs his cars/encourages customeras to run and post times.....
Unlike many tuners out there...or should i say "king tuners" ,
That talk, and put up huge dyno #'s.....but don't dare run their cars, or just make silly excuses as too why their or their customers cars don't preform, or worse yet tune cars, charge their customers large sums of money....and then tell them to keep quiet when cars don't preform
I've seen all this happen.
Too me action always speaks louder then words...
Al good job,...keep them coming :disco:
BTW i have never been a big backer of Dynoflash, and still am not., but the man deserves some props.
StiDreams 04-12-2005, 06:33 PM There’s nothing wrong with a little trash talk before the big game. It just adds a little spice to the competition. He is very proud of his car and I wouldn't call that being cocky, he is just being nice and letting us know his times which most of us love to hear from.
Please, lets stop talking smack about people here for no reason. He can post here whenever he wants. I use to have a WRX and now a EVO MR, I post here and I post at evolutionm and evolutionmr.net so what!!

gebers69 04-13-2005, 06:56 PM You guys should be very happy AL is around. If you look at other boards this one gets plenty of action because of people like AL. It looks to me like he spends a lot of time and money to help other people find out the best way to tune their cars. Without guys like him we would all just go out buying stuff that doesnt work.
I met him briefly at last years EVO-WRX shootout in Jersey and he was willing to take the time to show his car and tell some things that he did.
Like him or not he is out there racing and posting times.
Since this is not about bench racing lets give AL his due credit.
The guy should have a little arrogance since he can run in the 10's.
But I guess there is a lot of 4 cylinders out there running 10's?
Yeah right
Excellent time Al.
Hope I can make it to the challenge this year.

TheRussianSith,
As I explained yesterday(second page of this topic) Al is a great tuner, he shares helpful information pertaining the tuning of the WRX's, STI'S and EVO'S.
He travels around tuning cars, in fact he was recently in Phoenix at Dyno-comp tuning a bunch of Evos, STI'S and WRX's.
I don't think that Al have to prove nothing in this forum, he already built a great reputation as a tuner and one of the fastest street cars in the US.
In my opinion and in the opinion of most of the people of this forum Al is always welcome to post here anytime, we like to hear from him.
I wish to invite you to www.evolutionm.net and www.evolutionmr.net and join the fun. There is many people that changed from Subaru's to Mitsu and viceversa.
I now drive a 05 MR but I keep posting here from when I owned my WRX for 2 1/2 years.

Desperate? He is far from it. You obviously know nothing about Al. First of all, he has been around this forum since the beginning (back in 02). You should search and see what kind of accomplishments he has made in the scooby community and the crazy setup he had in his WRX. It may not seem crazy now but it sure was 3 years ago. He is also a tuner for EVOs and WRX/STi's.

The begining was actually in 1999. And yes, Al did do a lot for the Subie community, he was the first to swap a JDM STi motor into a WRX, he was also the first one to run in the 11's at the first scooby shootout. However, once he got his EVO he decided that it was time to start talking a lot of **** about Subaru's and start many massive flame wars. Im pretty sure that Alfredesq was banned.
Optimus Prime 04-14-2005, 03:51 PM I thought the Evo would always dominate the STi, but after seeing Gadiels car, I think they are even. Although it seems it took less parts to get the STi into the 10s.
gebers69 04-14-2005, 05:53 PM It seems that no matter what is said people will still argue.
Really it should all be based on who drives and posts times.
If you want to only quote dyno then stick to arguing bench racing.
If you are going to show up at the track like AL does, post the times then talk I guess not too many people can argue with a posted run.
Just posting dyno hp without ever seeing if you can put it to the ground is ridiculous and as Al will probably confirm he has broken a lot of parts on his way to achieving his newest time.
If you dont run at the track how can you badmouth guys that do.
I might be new to this board but I know that making hp on a dyno is nothing
compared to being able to make it hookup at the track.
How many guys say they make 500hp on a dyno only to find when they run it at the track the drivetrain cant handle it. The stress on those parts only happens on the track.. on a dyno you just gradually get up to speed...no stress on a dyno unless you break your motor of course.. :furious:
Vladimir L 04-14-2005, 09:18 PM Didnt the Evos walk the STI at last years shoot out?
PowderMan420 04-14-2005, 09:32 PM IMO the evo and sti are even it just boils down to whoever puts in their time and money into what they love. I respect him for running 10's then trying to entice the subarus to catch up its all in good fun....cheers al good work
JewPac42 04-14-2005, 09:52 PM Didnt the Evos walk the STI at last years shoot out?
Yes, but remember the EVO's motor has been around for years, there are tons of people in the 10's with them, a couple in the 9's and I believe even cars in the 8's. The EJ257 is a completely new motor and just now are people learning how to make huge power with them.
TheRussianSith 04-15-2005, 12:40 AM Desperate? He is far from it. You obviously know nothing about Al. First of all, he has been around this forum since the beginning (back in 02). My bad...I guess that gives him the right to be condescending and self centered...silly me
sonicowrx03 04-15-2005, 01:45 AM Didnt the Evos walk the STI at last years shoot out?
Yes indeed. The most amaizing part is that there was some Talon/eclipses running even faster than the EVO's.
As someone already said, the 4g63 has been around for 15plus years and is a bullet proof engine..
WRXzard 04-15-2005, 03:01 AM 10.35 is 10.35 no matter if you like him or not.
If you are a straight shooter a Civic running 10 should be respected as well and any other 10 second EVO STi or Echo at that.
I don’t know Al but I've seen his post and it look like he is dedicated to going fast. I think some of the problem is the loyalty that we have towards Subies. No different than the CG8’s views on the WRX and the WRX to the STi.
He moved on and some of us don’t like it, but if a shopping cart would turn 9's he would probably be in one. posting the same way in the EVO forums and this one. If he turns 9’s in a shopping cart what are you going to say then?
Fast is Fast.
As someone stated it is hard to compete with 15 years of development and an iron truck engine block (4G63) in a car. That engine is proven.
If you want to compete with him start thinking out of the box.
1. EJ25: Your piston speed is too slow.
2. You need a 2.3 or so to get you in the game.
3. Make efficient power not brute power.
If you want to see what you are doing data log and graph your runs. Watch your RPM, Vehicle speed and elapsed time. If your vehicle speed starts to flat line on your Vehicle that is a problem.
Sometimes the gearing won’t put you in or even take you out of your power band. Every RPM counts. You got to get technical.
WRXzard
P.S. For what it is worth.
A humble man is respected by all no matter what he does.
I strive to be humble but its HARD!!!!
v8killer2pt5 04-15-2005, 06:36 AM Just browsing but here is what I have to say, Al might be all those things people say he is or none .....that's just opinions. Facts on the other hand > I met Al the first time after he posted on our club boards about tuning for the Sti. Everyone was pretty rough on him for whatever reason, my friend and I decided to take him up on his offer for tuning. By the way he gave us a great deal, anywho we drove out to CT from NY just to do this work with some guy we never met. Not only did Al do an amazing job but went above and beyond our expectations when helping us with some extra effort to get the cars tuned. My car with a Bosal dp and ECUtek made 280 awhp and 293lbs awtrq. This was a result of numerous dyno tunes and a few road sessions. All in all we were there for about 12 hrs....with Al helping out a few other people. Thanks Again Al.......Dean 2004 Sti

Nice analogy...because hikers love to post their 1/4 mile hike times....not. Drag racing is all about competition...hmmm, I'm sure ego's dont play a part in that.

It was a good analagy and yes there is competition in hiking. People always try and get to the top of whatever they are hiking before the other guy. Competition is natural and a good thing. Without it we would be bored fat slobs :) I know when I drag race.... I don't mind winning, but honestly I could care less if I lose. I lose to all sorts of huge slick 10 second automatic v8s. Is my ego hurt because of that? Not really. I enjoy it because it's a fun hobby.
Oh and I reiterate the title of this thread. "Power Bragging" what the hell do you expect from this thread? It's like your surprised or something. If you don't like people boasting about their times or power you might want to avoid the power bragging thread. ;)

Dyno Flash 04-16-2005, 10:24 AM Thanks for the kind words guys. Don't forget Alex started this section - named after my dyno shop - Pruven originally - mostly in order to accomidate my braggingf about my various dyno sheets with my WRX / STI back in the day.
I still like to come on here - for two reasons #1 nostalga and #2 - hopefully to inspire some of the STI tuners to make some real fast STI's
This is why I also organized and promoted the first two WRX vs. EVO shootouts
Yesterday - at the 2nd one I ran a best of 10.28 in the final and another driver went 10.18 in my car @ 141.8 mph - full interior, exhuast, and 3300 lbs without nos (thats moving )!
The WRX's showed great passion for thier cars yesterday and represnted the band well
Hopefully in August they will be going a bit faster
StiDreams 04-16-2005, 12:38 PM You’re getting close to those nines. Aren't you tempted to do and little N2O in there and get that last .18 sec? Or do you think you can get there without it?
metoo 04-16-2005, 04:18 PM Dang, that enigne must be totally custom at this point, case included. Is it still AWD? Man that's fast!

funniest post I've seen in a while....
I know of plenty of stock turbo/stock block Evos running in the 11s. In fact... the only reason to purchase new internals for the Evo are because you either A) Stroked it or B) bought a 2.4 block.
StiDreams 04-16-2005, 04:57 PM IIRC, Al is running a built motor top and bottom. I'm not sure if it's stroked though. It has been quite some time since I have browsed evolutionm, so he could be running a totally different setup by now.
Hey Al, how about giving an update on your setup here?
BigValleyPerformance 04-16-2005, 05:43 PM Gadiel and Big Valley ran 10.24@140mph three times! Would be nice to see that match. I guess Al will have his match soon...
I think Al is coming to P.R. to tune some cars of a friends of mine. This evo is really amazing and the numbers are greate , Al i hope we can get together when you come to P.R. We have a rematch race this june with the same rabbit that we ran before and we are working on the sti to see if we can touch the 9's .

Balr14 04-16-2005, 06:45 PM I'm curious as to how much money you have stuck into this EVO?
gebers69 04-16-2005, 07:08 PM They should have different racing classes...one for those that will do whatever to win and one for people who want to run as fast but dont want to have to spend the money.
Take ESX for example...they have plenty of sponsorship but they also have Jamie doing the wrenching on the car. With his knowledge and sponsorship money they are bound to win.
The old saying that " I could do the same thing if I spent the same money"
is nonsense.
In drag racing if you race at events its all about winning...
Go ahead and tell me I am wrong
