Alright here is the bane of my existance.
I keep getting check sum error map corrupt .. I reloaded firmware and reentered all my params. Still the same problem. My tuner says he calculated the checksums and they were right. What am I missing here.I got a car in my garage I can't drive. .

the scenerio I just installed a new AVCR

I installed it wrong because the info I had to install it was inaccurate. The car went into flash mode I guess. (check engine flashes real fast and the fans go on and off). Could this have affected my utec?

Jake, I haven't had UTEC now for almost a year, so bear with me. I think when I had this problem I just had to rename the map file, i.e. "VF2218psi.txt" to "VF2218psi1.txt". Then reloading the maps would go without a hitch. It doesn't matter what you change the name to, just that the name is changed. Take care.

Hrmm ok I'll try that. I did however get the maps reloaded on the utec via my brother in law laptop. so It is a problem with my new laptop.

So with your brother's laptop the car runs- no problems? I think the actual problem isn't with hardware, it's a hyperterminal bug. Anyone else wanna chime in?

I had strange gremlins with a Sony Vaio PCG-745 now and again, could not work it out or put my finger on the cause. I got errors trying to flash to 4.2c as well as sometimes loading a map. With a newer Athlon Vaio brick laptop it works fine all the time. Both with exactly the same OS (XP Pro) and cables, settings etc etc. Some gremlin between Hyperterminal and the motherboard chipset I guess....both laptops using same UART too.

I had alot of problems the first time I was trying to hyperterminal into mine as well...and like you one I did get a actual connection with the utec I kept having paramater failure. I had to log out of the utec and turn off the car and re download the map several times....since I was using the turboxs stage 4 map and parameters for the time being. I tried re-naming the file and that did not help me. Just try connecting to the utec several times is my suggetion.

Try using the UTECedit software (free download at wrxhackers), which will enter the correct checksum for you.
