this is not on a subaru it's on my girlfriends truck. for other reasons we can not use the stock fan . there was a electric fan mounted on there and it ran for a few years. it had to be replaced and the one i found to replace was a little heavier duty. i used the same wiring and now it works but the fan wiring and the switch in the cabin is getting really hot when it is on for a while. someone that knows about electrical systems please tell me how i can figure out what is wrong with it. i don't want to fry anything ort start a fire.

Is there a relay in it now? You probably need to upgrade the wiring to a bit heavier guage, put a relay in the system so that the switch doesn't carry all the power, and see what that gets ya.

A relay with heavier wire is the key as mentioned above.

on a sidenote, i've got a friend with "AMIEVIL" for his licence plate...
...He also has "METALLICA" across the back window of his explorer, and gets pulled over all the time, but I felt it was worth mentioning.
