Im thinking about installing rally fog lights onto my blaze yellow rex (the four pac lights(0000) that mount onto your hood, like the ones you see on the rally cars), but before i do i need to know where to shop first. i like how they look and i dont see much people sporting them. anyone know where to go? pros and cons? reliablilty? will it melt my paint if i run them for too long? will the wiring schematic mess with any of my electrical components?

try The Ultimate Auxiliary Lighting and Mount Thread (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=673117) 500 and some posts, should be more than enough info there to make you dizzy.

umm...
you do realize that you have to make HOLES through your hood
in order to mount rally lights right?
(about 6 on each side)

unless you get a bolt on stand alone light bar - $300 +
but that sits in front of the hood - not on the hood like the rally cars

PIAA supply the WRC rally cars
http://www.piaa.co.uk/pods/podshow.asp?ID=subaru
When fitting lights, quality is more important than quantity. A good beam pattern is essential otherwise a lot of the light gets wasted where it's not needed. Decide whether you want spot, drive or fog lights as an absolute basic. Then see if you can try some lights of that type. I have always liked Cibie, their optics seem better than Hella. Ring is poor. I've not tried PIAA. Just my opinion of course.
Also remember you may need to uprate your alternator to power the additional load or consider load shedding when the lights are on.
The wiring should not affect your cars systems if it's properly designed and installed. Make sure all cables and conectors are large enough and relay protect any interface with the OE systems.

Hey, that's me! :D

However, if you do get a lightpod, get the pods that Subiegal has on her car rather than a single pod that has 4 lamps in the middle of the hood. You don't want to block airflow to the hoodscoop if you have a TMIC still. :D

Cibie does have some of the best lamps, but they're a bit hard to come by sometimes and are expensive. PIAA lamps are good, but i personally find them overpriced. Hella is the least expensive, but their lamps are still very high quality which makes them a very popular choice around here (though their high end models such as the Rallye4000s are among the best in the world).

Raccoons at 45 mph mess up 500s. ;) Well it popped the reflector out of the housing, but they were put back together.
