View Full Version : whats the ideal turbo for jdm ver7 ?

i have a 2003 wrx with vf34 and supporting mods. i want to move onto a jdm version 7 swap . but at the same time , i would like to also upgrade turbo injectors and fuelpump . i do have a hyperflow fmic , hallman MBC and worx BOV . what would you guys reccomend ? and what else would i need with what you recommend ? ( wastegate , ebc etc )

well, it comes with sti pinks already but that can still be a limit depending on the turbo you want to run. what type of power delivery do you want? what is the car used for?...do you want fast spool? top end power?...need more info

i would like to have both fast spool and a little more top end . and people say its acheivable with the jdm engin and acvs . i want same or faster spool than vf34 with some more top end and redline to 8k rpm. the car is everyday everywhere daily driver . mostly city driving . but like to push the car alot on the weekends .

Go with a super 16g or an 18g.. On that motor those turbo are going to be a great all around turbo..

Who did you end up buying the motor from?

i havent bought it yet but its right in reach ! i feel it ! i thought i would be finished with modding , but this morning . ive been NEEDING it . its there . i can just taste it . hey cronic , i think imma go with 18g then . what injector & fuel pump do i need ? and could i still use my hyperflow fmic and work bov ? and hallman MBC ? and anything else i need ? i want to figure out what everything is gonnna cost so i can blueprint my plan .... hahahha thanks cronic

Walbro is fine.. I would sell stock pinks for 300 and get some stock blues for cheap and mod them, or buy some larger injectors like PE..

Are you going to get a utec?

Stock are fine.. ecutek is ok, but dont you ever want to run c16? Those turbos are realy going to shine on race gas, with a utec that will allow you to take full advantage of that..

i really doubt it if i ever want to track it . so i just kinda want to set it and forget it . i hope this is the end for my engine modding . 18g with jdmver7 and tune it and thats it . if anything is next , RA gears and itll be done .

I already told you what fuel pump and injectors.. Extenal is not needed, but is a nice thing to have IMO..

Dont you go out to Ave P, or Spring valley, etc? C16 is awesome for those times, it is an instant 50whp or so..

You are not going to make much over 300whp with either of those turbos, but on race gas they will make some nice power..

What is your power goal on pump gas?

my goal is a fastass daily driver with just 93 octance and fast spool and could keep up on highways . and to be in spool from 3k-8k . yea i think i remember that ... that vf34 and 18g is similar but just different with race gas . if thats true , am i just wasting my time ?

The 18g will edge out the 34 on pump also, but on c16 it really comes to life..

On my v7 with green i had full boost(23-24psi) by 4k and pulled hard all the way to 8500..

If you want a pump gas monster get a green, it will do 350-360whp on pump.. I would bet the 18g to do around 315-330

should i just do vf22 then ? or maybe super 16g ? i hear super 16g is faster spool than vf34 and more top end then vf34 .
