Did anyone get the '05 RS 2.5 sport w/ the Sub woofer? It's advertised in the Subie Catalog as coming with the Sport Package but mine didn't and I'm fighting with the dealership to have it installed.

Also, what types of cold air intakes have you installed on this model?
Upcoming plans are:
Cold Air Intake (must have cleanable, if that's a word filter element)
Cat back exhaust w/ Borla header (Not sure on Cat Back system yet)
Tinted Windows (17%)
J-spec Skyline GTR Horns (great sound when laying on the horn)
PIAA Foglights mounted in STI covers
Strut bar and rear Sway Bar (not sure on type yet)

Looking forward to your suggestions. I haven't seen to much out there for the '05 yet. Does everything from 03-04 work on ours?

c.t.

The catalog said it but it is not standard.

No cold air intakes out for the car yet as far as I know. Ingen keeps saying they will have one "soon". I think you will have to remove the STi covers to get the PIAA's in.

I say skip the strut bar and get front AND rear sway bars with better endlinks.

I agree!!

And what about lowering that thing? I think that should come before any of the above, personally.

Now that all depends on how he plans on using it. ;) I personally love my car at the stock height. I have no ground clearance issues and Michigan is not the best place in the winter time for a lowered car. :)

My advice would be to spend your money more wisely.
For an intake simply buy a K&N filter and do a DIY Ganzflow or PDM intake. I did mine for $50 CAD including the price of the filter. (that's about $2.56USD).
Forget the borla headers unless you can get 3rd+gen ones for really cheap used...but they offer minimal to no gains. Instead, buck up and get a set of TWE or COBB Equal Length headers. Then go to your local muffler shop that has some experience with performance mufflers. Tell them you want a header back exhaust system with a cheap ass muffler that will tuck into the stock location, a highflow cat and MANDREL bends. Use aluminized steel as it is much cheaper than SS.

This will actually give you a decent power gain. Forget the strut tower bar, unless it is triangulated into another part of your frame it does almost NOTHING, but it looks pretty flash. With the money from that and all the look good mods you have planned get a set of CAMS, then your car will be quick.

The sway bar is a good idea and lots of fun.

This is just my opinion of how your money could be better spent.

Sub is optional. We're all waiting for the injen intake to come out, if you do a search you can find a dynochart from a prototype the produced 17hp to the wheels.

Pretty sure the COBB intake fits 05's, (RS ej-25 is an RS ej-25) slight mod to either tee-junction vaccuum line or plug hole.

yea, like tora says, skip the borlas, they are a sound mod not a power mod...go with brullen or cobb equal length headers. Cheap intakes are the way to go too...cobb intake is way too expensive, and shows little or no gain over a regular PDM style intake...it's too loud for my ears too.

get some springs (prodrive), a rear sway (stock wrx sway works well), and new tires.

Nope. Won't fit the air flow sensor.

I disagree swaybars with endlinks make a huge difference in bodyroll, handling, and turn in not to mention they are alot cheaper than buying a quality set of coilovers.......in the end I would want atleast coilovers, swaybars, endlinks, and an alk. He could probably save his money though and not get the strut tower bar.

Really? Damn. Wrong Diameter or what? Can you use an 04 sensor on an 05?

i installed an HKS supermegaflow on my 05 RS. my husband had it lying around as he never installed it on his WRX. the maf fits perfectly. only thing is that the intake on the WRX comes up from the front end instead of going to the back of the bay like it is on our cars. i used all the original hardware, all i did was bend the bracket slightly to get it to sit in. i have not had any problems with it rattling or moving at all since i installed it.

and i did feel some extra push from it for sure. put a smile on my face :D

if you dont feel like waiting, try this or get one custom made

PDM Racing - this is the "poor man's" intake pipe. Match it with a K&N or Amsoil drop in and you have a fine setup for ~$100.
