Hey All,
Here's the thing...I have a 2002 OutBack Sport and I'm tempted to either trade her in (stripping it back to stock of course) for a used WRX or a 2000-2001 2.5RS. I've always LOVED the look of the 00-01 RS...and found a 2000 RS 4 Door White (I'm found of the Sedan's) with 120k miles for $8995 looks to have been a one owner car from Mass...it's in Manchester NH now..at the dealership....I was thinking most of, if not all my mod's would work on that RS and my payment would be much nicer.....giving me more money to save up for a WRX motor and drive train? Let me know what you'll think....

you could...i like my obs, but am also quite fond of the older rs's...
keep in mind, you won't be getting back much for the obs...12-13k maybe depending on mileage and condition.

The car has 120k miles... enough said. Unless you're doing a engine/tranny swap it may not be the most trouble-free of cars.

I agree. 120k is kinda up there. I'd be on the edge where it may need some nice loving care and some new parts. Not to mention, if you want power, don't even think about the 2.5. Sure, it's pretty, but building up an N/A engine requires a ton of money with a platform that doesn't really like modification without changing out huge parts (i.e., adding a shortblock) when you could simply get a WRX and already have a great, fast, car that is stock. Not to mention the options you'd be limited with in a 2.5 if you're big into modification and speed.

Yeah...the mileage kinda concerns me....my car only has 50k on her....I already have a Borla Header, Stromung Exhuast, AEM CAI, Pro-ECM Light Weight Pulleys and PF Grounding Mod...and planning on a high flow cat and RalliTek piggyback ecu to manage the engine....and possible spicy cams and heads at some point....that and I still want my OBS to be a bit of a sleeper.....oh the choices....

I think you might want to look harder. I found my 99 2.5 RS for 9k with 65k miles and it's in MINT condition. My suggestion is to do a KBB on the car.

Very good points....gotta find that perfect deal...if it's meant to happen...it will....my problem is I'm a car whore...I've had like 27 or so vehicles...what I need is a cheap 2nd car to play with...switch back and forth when I get bored with one or the other....shame on me....as least I'm protected.
