I'm looking for a list of things to bring w/ me to Pocono tomorrow -

I've been to an event before but always w/ my team that has everything.

I can't bring my whole garage but at least would like the basics

Here's what I think so far - yes some are obvious

Money
Food
Water
Water for car
Tire pressure gauge
Gloves (keep hands clean!)
Torque wrench
Oil
Lawn chair
Umbrella (forecast is good but....)

Suggestions? TIA

Bring the car with a little more air in the tires. Focus EVERYTHING ELSE on driving (and making sure you don't get sunburnt or physically uncomfortable as that's distracting.)

That's about it. You'll get the most for your money that way. Ignore the car; it's perfectly capable in stock form much less in modified form; folks who say otherwise are using excuses to mask their driving by blaming it on the car. Just go drive. :)

Good advice - which leads to my next question....

Tire pressure?

34/32 seemed pretty good on the street but I don't drive hard on the street to really feel how it'll reaact

Some 'cheap' extras that couldn't hurt:

Pen and paper for notes / thoughts about the course, the car, etc.
Tire plugs and tools
Cheap IR guage for tire temps
Spare Pads (or just upgrade before you go): IMO stock are not capable of a whole DE day.
Upgrade the fuild: same as above

Big ol cigar to smoke while your packing up at the end of the day.

Have fun!

Yeah, definately check your brake pads & fluid. I wore my rear pads down to the backing plate at the track. Then spent the next day searching for a replacement. I couldn't believe how many subaru dealers didn't stock rear brake pads.

Oh man when I go to a 2 day event I fill up one of those giant tupperware bins with garage goodies... I'd try and take as much of the following crap as you can bear.. you might not own all this stuff but it's a good time to just call up Harbor Freight and pick some of it up...

* Rachet set (make sure you have your lug size, caliper size, etc)
* Open ended wrenches (1 set metric/1 set american)
* screwdrivers (random sizes both phillips and flat)
* needlenose pliers
* electric impact wrench (and assorted impact sockets)
* zip-ties
* small aluminum jack / aluminum jackstands
* Spare brake Fluid (Ford Dot 3 HP is ~$2/bottle and has a dry boiling point of ~550°F)
* Mitivac to change brake fluid
* Make sure you fill up on gas before you get to the track in the morning (track gas = $4/gal)
* IR Pyrometer (someone else said it too but it's a good move, it will help diagnose tire pressure problems, how hard you were on your brakes, etc)
* blue painters tape
* snacky food (pretzels, chex mix, etc)
* driving shoes / comfy shoes
* sunglasses

I'm sure i'll think of more crap later, but this should get you started -- enjoy ;)

Bring LOTS of fluids. You'll never believe how much you drink.

I got HP+ to fade at Summit Point. I don't know Pocono so just be mindful that they might still fade on you.

You are going to need to watch those, if you push them for too long they will overheat and chunk to hell. Especially at full tread.

no suspension yet :(

wow man, so your wheels are bolted to the frame itself? I would think you would need to get some sort of suspension ...

I thought that suspension came standard on the WRX...

Luckily two friends were there to help - so everything worked out well.

What an absolutely amazing day - I am so happy right now.

The car performed flawlessly - the pads were not bedded in well so I got some green fade on the first session - after that they did well...

The tires also did well for my level - nice easy release - no chunking but some nicely rounded edges - thats ok....

Boiled the brake fluid a bit so the pedal was a bit mushy on the last session but the car still slowed fine....

And I learned a LOT about driving today....I no longer lust for a bigger turbo. I need suspension so I can get some oversteer and stop making the tires do all the work, some shoes so I can operate the pedals better - and likely some 'slotted' pedals so I can find room for my huge feet - and most importantly.... MORE TRACK TIME!!

Nothing is cooller than getting the point by from a new Porsche!! and a hopped up Cooper S....thumbs down to the rich guy in the Elise who apparantly has no rear view mirror...

100 per cent addicted!

Cheers!
