Looking at the entry list, I'm kinda disappointed I left the class, but the cost was too darn high. I'll just happily kick all your tails in the GSer!

IF I can convince the codriver to go and IF I can convince my son to come with us.....we may well come on down. We might hafta only do the T&T, which means we'll hafta preregister TODAY....it also means I'll have alot of work to do on the car TODAY.....and no sleep for the mushroom shift worker....

Orion is a mushroom shifter too and he'll make it. Of course he only has to drive about 5 miles instead of 130 but hey that's how it is.

TnT was cancelled, but the Evenr Sunday is still on. Looking like the temps are creeping back into the high 40's.

Most precip is supposed to be here today and tomorrow. Sunday's drying out....

We are going to be in Dayton on Sunday. Hopefully it won't be too chilling.

We'll see what the weather looks like but Jen and I will probably chicken out. Just not safe, or productive as practice for us, to race when the forecast says 60% chance of snow and 38 degrees at 10AM on Sunday.

Glad you guys got the message! I was a little worried you might not get the word in time. If you want to PM me with a phone number, I'll give you a call the next time something like that happens (assuming I actually remember!!)

Orion

we'll see whoever no shows in Toledo next weekend! my lil bro will be home on leave from Iraq so he'll get his first event in at the airport!

Notice from OVR:

Craig has often said it would be a cold day in hell before he would ever cancel a Points Event - and it seems that day has arrived. He has been sitting at the computer since 5 AM this morning watching the weather forecasts - and the outlook has gotten worse instead of better.

With input from several of our Safety Stewards he has made the painful decision to postpone Sunday's Points Event #1 and reschedule it to July 31st at Cooper Stadium.
Decisions such as this have to be made with an eye toward the safety of everyone involved - drivers, workers, those towing and participants traveling from out of town to the events.

And we certainly don't want to have anyone slip and fall off the back of Moby!

We have 680 email addresses on this list BUT please pass the word on to your friends. We plan to head down to Cooper Stadium in the morning (Brr) just in case someone is out of the loop.

Of course, entry fees will be credited to later events. (now MY Registrar nightmare begins!) Sorry, we cannot make refunds through Paypal - the Paypal relationship is with myautoevents not OVR.

In this instance we sure hope that the weather guys know what they are talking about!
Becky

Argh. Stupid almost-May Ohio weather.

Yep. I really wanted good weather to do the T&T and STX Battle Royale this weekend!! There's another T&T next Saturday at BeaveRun in PA, but Phil has to work that day (we originally thought I'd be in Mexico for work next weekend) so we can't do it. I do hope the Cooper Stadium one is able to be rescheduled. Otherwise, I think the next one "close by" is BeaveRun in July...

Oh and yep, we're getting snow mixed in with the rain up here now.

Orion

July 31st is the makeup for the PEsince we already had the Coop for the East Coast Kart Challenge. We probably won't see a reschedule of the TnT.

OK, Phil wants you all in the South to know how much you TRULY suck. Mike, you asked me a couple months ago how testing was going?? Well, Phil wants you to know the snow shovel is testing out just FINE... :p :p :p

Here's a view from 7:34 pm. Measures out to about 7 inches or so and is still coming down hard.

Perfect Snowcross weather.

Well sure! It would be. If it had fallen a month and a half ago. Now, the WRX is set up for summer. I don't even want to imagine what the JICs would look like if I took them through the salt. :( And obviously I'd have to bring the snow tires back up from the basement. :) And honestly, with the car as lowered as it is for summer, it's entirely possible I might get stuck, even with AWD. So I'd just as soon not risk bashing up my race car.

So I just bummed a ride into work this morning. It's supposed to get up to 50 today so most of it should melt before tomorrow's commute. I actually wish I'd brought my camera into work so the sun-lovers could see just how HUGE the piles of snow are in our parking lot. I sent the above pictures to my little sister (who lives in LA and was visiting San Fran this weekend) yesterday and what did she say?? "Oh, if it makes you feel better, it's a little cold here too. I wish I'd remembered to bring a long-sleeved shirt..."

P.S. A snowcross is fine if you have a lot appropriate for it. The vast majority of lots appropriate for autocross are not appropriate for snowcrosses. Cooper Stadium falls into this category IMO. There are a number of lightpoles and dips strewn around the lot that are fine for an autocross, but would cause undue risk in a snow-covered lot.

Well, the original "STX faux-National Tour" at OVR got snowed out. Except for Todd Meade, the rest of us ventured to NWOR the following weekend for a local event at the Toledo airport so we got to have our "faux-National Tour" after all. :)

Billy Brooks took first, with Phil .166 seconds back, and Andy Basham taking the final trophy spot. I came in 4th, with Jason Wong right on my heels, .095 back. Greg McCance, another WRX driver who mainly does local events (but is a good enough driver he should probably consider doing larger events) was another .158 behind Jason. http://www.nworscca.com/modules/event_results/results/2005_e1_web.htm

Andy's wife Amber was also racing with us in open at her very first autocross EVER. She improved considerably (over 22 seconds!!) over the course of the day. I think with some more seat time, she'll be coming up on our times in not too long. :)

Anyway, of the 6 of us with prior experience, we were all within 1.5 seconds of each other and were all top 25 in PAX (out of 123 drivers), at a track that is usually kinder to race rubber than to street tires. There were showers later in the day which affected the PAX results somewhat. But I believe all heats did get at least one dry run. Billy was 6th overall, Phil 8th, Andy 12th, me 16th, Jason 17th, and Greg 24th.

In other Subaru entries: Matthew Smith won AS and was 18th in PAX in his STi. Orion Fairman took 2nd in GS and 20th in PAX in his new 2.5 RS. Orion's brother Owen ended up only 0.2 seconds out from a trophy spot in GS and 42nd in PAX at his first-ever autocross. Orion, get that boy some seat time when he gets done driving armor-clad tanks! Let's take him to Topeka! :) Matt Madden took 2nd in SM and 50th in PAX in his WRX.

Wow, considering we broke the swaybar endlink 1/3 of the way through Owen's 1st run we'll take it!

I look at that 1.799 and laugh. Broken endlink, fuel pickup problems (ran it down to 1/4 tank and it was starving in tight right handers) and the fact that the MINI ran almost on almost dry concrete right after I ran on wet/rain/hail covered surfaces and it doesn't look all that bad. Gimme another crack at him with 1/2 tank of gas and the fixed endlinks with similar conditions.....

where's the PAX results?

Ah crummy. I see the link doesn't take you directly there. Oh well. Look at the bottom of the page, there should be a "Index" tab that shows PAX results.

Orion
05-09-2005, 09:11 AM
just found the tab. very cool layout!

Owen would have been 2nd in Novice on the index. His raw time was 2nd to a BSP Vette in Novice. I didn't even think of signing him up for it. D'oh!

too bad we had to run in such crappy changing conditions. maybe i'll get a little luck at the tour.

Maybe next time you'll be faster, just like the old days, if you drove up hill, in the snow, around the cones, both ways... barefooted. :D

smaht ahse....:D

at least i didn't take a beating like i did against that kaycee punk at the Tour in '03. that was a truly pathetic 2nd place!

it woulda been fun had it stayed wet. the MINI was hating it in the wet!

Thanks for the link to the results Jen.

I'll take 18th in PAX for my first event on race rubber! :D

It was defintiely a good time watching you, Phil, Billy, Jason, and Basham duke it out in STX!
