Looks to me like Ken Block - he's competing this year in Rally America events in a GrpN STi.

Good looking car!

I saw that car tonight at PIR, as well as some other subaru's. The rally wagon that the Jamie Subie Gal drives was there and we did our best to get some pics of all the cars. We didn't have a tripod so the pics we did take from an absolute still were on the ground.

I bet VTcar did the mods on the cars since Ken & Travis have ties w/Lance and the VT boys.

I love the colour schemes but they're a bit conspicuous (sp?) on the road.

Hopefully they'll have a good video of the Gumball w/footie from those cars. :D

If Best Motoring is car porn, the Gumball rallys are asshat porn.

Seems like mostly rich twits with Ferraris weaving through traffic at triple digits. I'd love to be rich and stupid, but not stupid like that.

I really like that white STi, followed with the black one. If the blue one didn't have orange wheels it would look mucho better. I think that the gumball is a cool idea, too expensive though.

This has to be an ego thing rather then a serious marketing plan. By the time you add up the cost of the cars, entrance fees, hotels, food, and shipping three cars and crew over to the UK and back thats probably getting up around buying TV time in major markets. They would have done better to spend the money on advertising at the Xgames or something.

SubeSTIle
04-26-2005, 04:37 PM
oh and i just bought a pair of dc's this weekend after i saw this, just coincidence that i found a pair that i liked.... personally i like etnies or vans.... just my .02

Wow, incredible cars.
Blue/orange?! The only thing better than that would be white/orange. Can anyone photochop that for me?

mykrrrr
04-26-2005, 09:09 PM
Their cars/actions are doing exactly what they want...bring attention to their brand. Doing the Gumball and stuff like that is way more effective than X Games advertising. It makes them more 'core' than someone who's buying into a mainstream corporate marketing blitz like the X Games.

Ken Block sold the company to IIRC Quiksilver or some other bigger company and is just playing around. Why hate on him. He's a skater who started one of the best companies out there and now that he's successful he's having some fun.

I'd probably do a lot of the stuff he's doing just to make life fun. I'd definitely start rallying.
