Hey guys,
Yesterday I went to arm/unlock my doors, and I could barely hear the audible chirp of the factory alarm. Same when I lock it.
Lights flash, but the sound is almost non-existant.
The only thing I've done to the car really was clear the headlights JDM style the other day.
Any thoughts on a possible solution? Or maybe someone has experienced this?
Cheers!
Will

did you set it off to make sure it's not the horn that's having problems?

It's the "chirping" sound of the arm/disarm.
When I blow the horn it's just as loud.

Unfortunately there have been a lot of people experiencing this problem (I think mostly late model 04s and 05s), myself included.. Sometimes it works, sometimes nothing, sometimes it's real quiet... Mine isn't effected by heat/cold (outside temp or car temp), or if it's wet/dry out, although some people have attributed it to water damaging the chirper...
The more and more I hear about it, the more I'm surprised there hasn't been a TSB..

there is a glitch all you have to do too get it back is rad the back of your alarm. hit unlock once and then hold unlock and lock at the same time for two seconds and then whalla you have your chirp back, happens to me all the time.

This is not "valet mode" for many of us, so unfortunately it's not a matter of resetting it via the instructions on the remote.. :(

Yup, mine does the same thing. I had just gotten it back from the shop, and it didn't chirp when I parked it. I figured it was in valet mode, but when I unlocked it, it was fine. Now it does it incrementaly, for no apparent reason.

this thread has a list of people experiencing the problem.. it'd be good if people signed their names so that subaru can understand the magnitude of this issue (not like I have any belief that a thread will impact a TSB, but at least you'll have more ammo going in to get it fixed)..
