View Full Version : Need some help with a fuel filter dubble_ur_ex 04-24-2005, 10:52 PM Where is the fuel pump relay connector located? Mulder 04-24-2005, 11:08 PM Assuming a late model WRX or RS, it's a green relay and matching green connector under the passenger side dash by the kick panel. cnk 04-25-2005, 12:40 AM An alternative to pulling the relay is to let the car sit overnight. That will allow the fuel system to depressurize. Calvin Mulder 04-25-2005, 12:46 AM But not completely. To fully depressurize the system, pull the relay and remove the gas cap, then crank the engine a few times. It will start and die, then just crank. A few cycles of cranking for several seconds will do it. 02subadrew 04-25-2005, 01:14 AM when i did mine, i went into my trunk, under the carpet, under the cover on the right side near the back of the rear seat...unplug that harness, then crank the car over it will start and die, and then get to work. Rebellion 04-26-2005, 02:51 PM grumble... i can't get the bloody lines off the fuel filter on my 96 OBS. I did it fine back a few months ago on the WRX. Anyone have suggestions? Backsteer 04-28-2005, 01:36 AM Get something small enough to get between he hose and the fitting, they get dry and want to hold on tight. Work it around (not ripping the line) to break it free(squeek squeek). I've had to get some lubrication (oil) in there to break the hold before Roy Lin 06-07-2005, 02:44 AM Here's a hint about how to not get fuel shot all over you like i did... Uncover the opening in the trunk on the right, start the engine first, THEN pull the harness. I pulled the harness first, cranked the engine a shietload, and thought i was done. When i pulled off the fuel line it shot fuel out like a super soaker all over me and the engine bay. What fun! Uncle Scotty 06-07-2005, 05:46 AM .....I've done....several.....fuel filters on these, and un-screwing the gas cap and letting the car sit while ya eat a sammich and ------get this.....if you put a towel/rags under the filter area and remove the filter OUTLET hose first and direct the outlet into the empty beer/soda can/bottle that washed down lunch.....no huhu at all  the filter slows the fuel flow down so you can catch it and it won't spray all over ;).....and I use the 90° pick from my pick set to get under the edge of the lines on the filter, and I always have a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol around to lube rubber parts ;) and spray that into the gap I create between the hose and filter hardline.....works like a champ ;) :D |
