i am about to buy a v7 sti head set with the sti v7 ecu and would like to know the horsepower i might be makeing on a stock motor with just the heads and ecu and i would like to know if i would be able to rev to 8k with that set up on my stock wrx block. i have done a few searches and i have not really found the answers i have been looking for.
Honestly nobody knows. In my years here I've never even seen anyone whose done this. What is the rest of your setup? Sure you can rev it to 8k but it may not do you any good depending on what else you have done.

I am in process of a swap also. I have a EJ257, with a Axis modded crank . It's now good for 8000rpm. So it should work well with my V7 heads. I would have to say "good luck" on revving the wrx crank that high more than a few times. At the least, have it balanced and get a Axis oil pump also
The WRX crank is fine at that rpm.

wrx can handle 8k with thoes heads. just no need to rev that high really if you dont have any other supporting mods.. its just a waste of gas. but thoes heads will open her up!

i kind of just wanted to have a little more power and a longer power band, i was just planning on adding a downpipe and uppipe along with the heads. and you are sure the wrx block(stock) can handle 8000 rpm. i am thinking the the v7 fuel map would give it more power in the higher rpm considering it will have avcs. can i at least say it would give me about 20-30 whp from just the heads and ecu or is that too unrealistic.
