View Full Version : Anchor Subaru in RI
fourplay 04-26-2005, 03:54 PM Just to start off.. Anchor Subaru is the best!!
I had been shopping around for a new STi for some time. After visiting my local dealer and reading some posts here on NASIOC I got in touch with Cliff @ Anchor. No haggling, no problems, no BS. He told me their price (which was *considerably* cheaper than my local dealer) and we got the ball rolling over the phone. I already had financing, but their financing dept was able to beat my interest rate so I ended up financing through Anchor.
So within one day, just about everything was taken care of. I let my local dealership know about Cliff's deal and they said it was "too good to be true" and that there was no way I could be getting a brand new STi for that price.
I live in NC and at this point Cliff gave me several options. Basically, he could ship the car or I could come pick it up. I opted to fly up and drive the car back down.
Anchor had somebody waiting for me at the airport and drove me about 20 minutes back to the dealership where my brand new STi was waiting out front, recently detailed. Everybody was extremely friendly and helpful. One of their tech guys also owns an STi and was more than enthusiastic to talk about it.
Since purchasing the car, i've gotten 2 follow-up phone calls from them, just checking to make sure that everything is OK.
I would highly reccomend dealing with these folks.

I just put 1000 miles on the car and I have loved every minute of it.
-One happy STi owner. (Chris)
kpalena 04-27-2005, 11:56 AM Maybe some other dealers could take a look at this? Get a clue guys. I don't even know Cliff and I love him. People are driving huge distances to buy from him. Hello? Fellas? pay attention.
AnchorSales 04-28-2005, 02:57 PM Chris,
Thank you for the kind words....I appreciate it very much. Have you had a chance to stop by your local dealer yet and allow them to see something that is "too good to be true" lol....
I am glad you are enjoying the car.
Also I would gladly give anyone else on here the same great service.

Mr Rolleyes 04-28-2005, 03:10 PM great job cliff!!!!

wrmazin 05-07-2005, 08:59 AM Hey all I'm a noob in the suby world and I just bought a 2002 wrx from Anchor. I spent 3 months searching for a car I test drove em all and Anchor was the best dealership by far. Steve, my salesman was superb to say the least. They got me the car I want for a good price and gave me top price for my trade. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new Subaru...top notch. They even helped me get through a financing problem
STiMUL8 05-07-2005, 10:30 AM I purchased my STi there as well - Mark in service is great to talk to about STi's and tuning! I look forward to my oil changes & talking with him.
Gotta say Paul/Cliff/Eva made my 05 STI purchase the best I've ever had! the price was great, gave a fair trade in value and didn't pull any cheap tricks, smoke and mirrors or other gamesmanship. The entire transaction was done in a few hours and i drove home with in my STI. I've been looking for a few weeks for a new car and for the most part (except for DCH Acura in NJ) all the dealerships have been pretty much scumbags. Wish there were more dealers like Anchor. I give them the highest rating in my book. No heavy handed tactics. Especially the finance part, where you usually get the "bad cop" finance manager emerging from his/her cockroach hole, Eva handled it so well and made all the disclosures in a clear and conspicuous manner.
Thanks again Anchor! :disco: :alien:
mouse-jockey 06-01-2005, 11:26 PM I agree with all the comments from the others. I emailed STiMUL8 (Steve) a
couple of months before I ordered my STi after reading his comments here on
the board. After getting the ok from my wife, I finally talked to Clliff this last
march. What I wanted was a White/Gold STi which there are pretty hard to
find. After my test drive, Cliff said he might be able to get an order in for a
May/June delivery. I put my deposit down the next day. Got the car May 20.
In my experience, this has been the easiest automobile purchase I have ever
had. Eva was efficient and went thru the normal things that dealerships try
to sell you. Finance rate was better than I could get at either my bank or
credit union. I was out of there in about an hour and a half. With the full
tank of gas Cliff put in the car, my son and I left Anchor Subaru at about
5pm with3 miles on the clock and got home about 9:30 after driving 130 miles.
This is the kind of experience you should expect from all auto dealers. Price
was as expected. No pressure. No BS. Just good and friendly service.
When I'm ready for the next car, I'll be back to see Cliff, Brian, Eva and Mark.
Souperduck 06-25-2005, 11:21 PM I emailed someone at anchor to praise them, but I figured I could do it here where everyone can see too. I came in a couple weeks ago and test drove an '02 rex wagon, the guy behind the counter paged a salesman and he got the keys and pulled the car up, no questions asked. He was a nice guy during my test drive, he never said two words about a lease or badgered me about buying the car, and in fact he cautioned me that insurance on a rex for a young driver would be killer. I don't remember the salesman's name, but he told me about a 70's camaro and an 80's ranger that he had souped up. I honestly didn't think twice about this, as I had a similar, but not quite as painless experience at a toyota dealership a few weeks beforehand, but last week I had a bad experience with lincoln dodge, you can read about it if you can find the mercop (ex-vivid) forums, but I can't post links until I have 10 posts. When it comes time for me to buy a car, I'll look at anchor first, but I will demand a ride in the owner's nsx as a condition of my buying a car there.

bfarm 07-03-2005, 11:49 PM I had a GREAT experience buying from Anchor Subaru. Cliff handled the sale over the phone, Eva handled the financing (including overnighting me the paperwork so I could come pick up the car in 3 days) and Derek (sp?) wrapped the deal up for me upon arrival at the dealership. All were stellar.
Cliff answered every question, was flexible on the pricing, and promptly returned my calls everytime. He gave me the best price by around $2000 than the other dealership in the area that had a black/silver STi. I was picky about the options and even requested no dealer badging = no problem. I wanted to make sure it had VERY low miles - no problem I got one with 5 miles on the odo. It was SPARKLING when I picked it up.
Another example of full service: Henry from Anchor picked me up at the Providence, RI airport and drove me the 25 minutes to the dealership so I could pick up the car. I was in and out of there inside 15 minutes and on my way back to Annapolis. I used the provided (by Anchor) $25 voucher to fill up on 93 octane at the Sunoco down the street and had the most enjoyable 400 mile drive ever back to MD.
If you are anywhere within driving distance, call Cliff at Subaru and compare prices. If not, call Cliff anyway and compare prices + shipping.
