This is the other thing I do on the track. It has nothing to do with cars and everything to do with motorcycles.

cool video, i didnt watch the whole thing but looks fun. did the gear display come on your bike or did you add that. i was looking for something like this for my car. so if it was aftermarket who makes it and do you think it could be adapted to fit a car?

you are the second person to ask about the digi box.
Here's one link to it:

It works on rpm and speed sensor. I guess it could work on a car, but it does use the neutral light on a bike.

I think I remember something about "neutral" in the sti wiring diagram. Maybe that was for an automatic only?
Back to the video.... I just realized that I was on street tires, NOT slicks or a variant. Street tires, yo!

The cruise control knows when the car is taken out of gear(even if you dont use the clutch) so I would assume there is a neutral sensor of some sort in there.
Every Subaru manual car has a neutral position switch. Goes to 12v when the car is in neutral.

Thanks for the props oggle!! I looked into that awhile ago, It has never be done on a conventional manuel trans. I also found out if I wanted to be the 1st it would cost me over a $1000.00 , not worth it to me i'm not going to be anyones guinea pig, but if you have the wiring background go for it. Lastly it was a ugly piece. I thought there was a USDM car that came with a digital read out a long time ago.

Why 1000 dollars? Seems pretty simple if there is a neutral switch. How much are they?

Pretty sweet dude!
This makes me wanna ride my bike to work tomorrow. It is a dillema I have to face every morning now - do I ride the bike or take the STi. Both are very fast and fun, but are very different. On cold days the STi seems like a better choice. The bike however is faster and you can line split, which is awesome in traffic. Also the ability to lean kicks ass! The first few gears on an STi are so close that all I feel I ever do is shift. On a bike however, I take the freeway on-ramp in 1st gear all the way to 15,000rpm which ends up been around 75mph and only than I worry about shifting. But dont get me wrong I love the STi and tend to drive it more than the bike.
04 CBR600RR + 04 STi = :D
