I developed a rattle a while ago right at 2700rpm and it sounds like a heat-shield but I can't pinpoint it's location. Has anyone else had similar problems?

as you can see from this response... it's very common...

you can try to locate it and bend... or straighten, as the case may be the heat sheild so it no longer makes that noise...

or perhaps a hanger broke loose, or shifted?

or you have a rock caught up somewhere?

i dont even care anymore... i just turn the stereo up and rev the exhaust so i dont have to hear it. :)

likely it wont affect the performance of your Subie... it's just an annoyance...

Just get your dealer or muffler shop to spot weld the sucker and all will be well if it really bugs you. It did bug me and my dealer took care of it (labor charge mostly of $75.00. Ouch! But now it is quiet and no more rattle. It happens to everyone eventually with so darn many heat shields and baffles and junk under the car. Good luck or turn up the stereo as suggested:)

Mine rattled the same way I eventually had to take off the heat shield from the cat, sound went away.

lol i ripped off all my heatshielde up front of the car and made sure all my brackets were intact and not broken. no more rattles.
