IcedOutRS 07-27-2001, 06:40 PM I have a few grand to spend on the MY98 2.5RS.

also, in the handling department, a rear sway bar is highly suggested too....

DoctorNick 07-27-2001, 07:11 PM tires, **********************
air filter**
cold air intake******************************
neon lights for under the car*^10
radar detector*
I got more if yah need it but that should be plenty in the cash department :D
but serously get a cold air intake 4-10hp? then tires (I dont' knwo yet but they say it makes a huge diffrence then a detector(speeding and getting caught = ticket) then the best mod for your car is green neon lights to go under it. they add I would say about 300-400 hp...right guys?

Marc Sawaya 07-27-2001, 07:59 PM Turbo! Eh, maybe not with only a few grand, but save up! Nothing beats an RS-T (not even a WRX :)).

Subies 07-28-2001, 12:37 AM I would do the all of the suspensions. Coilovers, strut bars, sway bars, rims, etc. But those dont gain any hp. But get air intake or exhaust. It should gain pretty much hp.

How much is a few? If you've got like 3, maybe save a little for a SCer. If you don't want to go FI, just write a check to cobb for a stage 2 power package and cams.
My $.02,

Andrew 07-28-2001, 05:13 AM give it to me, ill put it to good use on my car.
BrysImpreza 07-28-2001, 11:40 AM You could make a donation to the BrysImpreza poor car guy fund, a couple grand would be perfect
:D
In seriousness, Go with some Cams and a ZEX Nitrous kit w/ an ignition cut off to keep you from blowing your engine, good combo to start running 13's in a 1/4 mile.

IcedOutRS 07-28-2001, 05:53 PM Yea, i was looking for an intake, but i wasn't sure what intakes were available for a MY98 Impreza RS. The MAF sensor has a problem of breaking from what i hear, i thought about one of those simple replacement k&n style filters, but i would really like something better. Please help me with intakes, i wanna make my nice 22B vents at least semi-functional.
Thanks
Alec
Digital_Boy 07-29-2001, 12:54 AM The MAF on the MY98 isn't the one that's infamous for breaking often, that goes to the MAF on the MY99. 2000 they changed to a MAP sensor which did away with the problem altogether.
Siper2 07-29-2001, 01:28 AM Intakes won't give you much unless you go all-out and do it, a good header, and a high-flow cat-back exhaust system. Do that, and you'll be running a bit faster. Typical gain is 20hp or less I think. (??) It'll breathe better though, which will be noticeable.
This is all word-of-mouth, mind you. I have no engine mods excepting a K&N air filter. Which... does nearly nothing. :D
With that much money, get new tires. I'd personally do a suspension setup. I'd preferably go with STi, since I'd love to keep my car as all-Subaru as possible. Tough to do, though.
A lot of shops you can find on the Products page here have good kits. I wish I were in your shoes!!!

Siper2 07-29-2001, 05:36 AM Oop. God I can't believe I didn't think of that. :D
Yes. Yesyesyes. DRIVING SCHOOL. Okay, maybe tires first.
I did O'Neil's winter safety course and had one hell of a good time.
It's up in Franconia Notch, NH (about two hours north of me), wayyyyy in the woods. There was a barrage of us NESIC fellas that went up for a day session.
Go to a driver's course, for sure.
