Just go home from a mountain bike ride and I forgot to remove my bike from my roof rack before I drove into my car port. Crrruuunnnchhhh! Oh *****, I forgot to take my bike off! My rack dented my roof. Man I feel stupid. My mind was floating off to never never land or something. One of those lessons in pain.:(

DUDE,

I just now watched a commercial with a ford explorer doing the exact same thing with 2 bikes on top into a garage.

Then the announcer said "had a hard summer day?"

funny as hell.

Sorry to hear it actualy happened.

I'm sorry to hear but I've done dumb dumb things too. Just to make you feel a little better . . .

I was skiing at Crested Butte. We were leaving our rental house to come home and I loaded the skis on the roof rack. Well, not paying attention, I managed to get the little emergency garage door disconnect cord locked onto the rack too. As you can imagine, upon backing out, I discovered my little mistake as the rack, skis, everything peeled away from the roof of the car into a jumbled little mess.

The only good thing was that it was my cousin's Jeep Cherokee and not my Scooby!

Too bad you didn't have film of that, you could send it to America's Funniest Home Videos and probably pick up some prize money to fix your roof! Man, I'll bet your stomach turned over, sorry to hear your plight... :(

I have two funny stories to ease your pain, both involving bike racks.

1) My first wife and I were heading off to a bike race, and we decided to stop at the Jewel and pick up some cash. Well, there were no spots in the above ground lot, so we decided to go into the under...DOHHH! A few sets of brake levers and a new rail later (this was on a Renault Alliance, so who cared about any damage) we were smarter, and good to go.

2) My personal favorite. We're in the team van, heading for a race up in Wisconsin. Heading over an overpass, we hear a "whoosh," followed by a metallic sort of sound. "What was that? Check the rear view!" We do, in time to see the highway behind us being strewn with high-grade Italian racing machinery. Suffice it to say, we weren't racing that day.

Don't worry, man. It happens.

That truly bites. Kind of ironic that they had a commercial about this just a few weeks ago.

this is not subaru or bike related, but one time we were coming back from florida in an infiniti QX4, and we had one of those storage things that goes on top of the car. anyways, we get home, and my mom just pulls into the garage. the storage thing breaks off, and falls to the ground. it broke open, and we had clothes, and stuff all over our driveway. it was pretty funny.

I did the same thing with my Impreza! The bike was fine, but the bike tray/car wasnt. It literally ripped the trim right off of the car, dented my roof in numerous places, bent my tray in half, and bent the fit kit. The BFH (Big ****ing hammer) took ok care of the bike tray so it is currently bent just a little bit, and it took some driveway handy work to reattach the trim and bang it back into shape so the water would run over it and not in the window. I took off all of the weather stripping and bent that sucker back in place.

Good luck, and I KNOW how you feel :) But dont worry, it makes for a good story :)
