i just got an email with an attachment that had a viruz. what the hell is going on?

Did you ever email them for any reason? The Sircam virus that is going nuts right now when opened will send it's self to any email address it finds on the computer.

Could somebody tell me if this virus can hurt macintosh's?

Well not just JCS, since I also received a virus attached file from iSR and Cobb too! :(
I hope their pc are okay by now...

As for the mac, I don't think it will hurt since the virus targets Microsoft Outlook at most, and unless you are using that...it's really hard to infect you. Now if it's a file and you opened it successfully, that's a different issue.

I used Eudora, plus those files were sent to my Hotmail account, which MSN McAFee virus scanner denied access anyway, so I didn't have problem (lucky me).

Hopefully not too many are being troubled by this annoying event.

Im on a mac using microsoft outlook, and when i opened the file it was a 'Gnu Chess' Game...?
Havent had any problems at all and its been a few days. I think my comp is immune, or at least has no visible symptoms.

being a former mac tech...I can say that you all will be ok unless using mac os x. I don't know the program bu tusually if it infects pc's, it won't hurt macs...macs(pre osx) are immune to almost every virus...well minus a worm virus that has been out for a good 3 years.
