My first thought is do you want OBD-II scanning, or are you going to switch out the Hydra for inspections? How many parameters do you want total control over, and what is the upgrade path after the turbo kit?

first i don't mind take off obd-2 scaning and switch of to hydra i just want something that i don't have to replace later and save my self from switching over and over my plans are have a 2.6 sti putting at least 600whp right now im putting down 400 whp with ecuteck

personal opinion is to go for the Hydra, with my limited knowledge on UTEC i'm not sure how efficient they are in controlling large injectors and cams.

anyone? please share :)

from what I know, Ultimate Racing uses ECutek even with their GT35r kits on the STi... Not sure where you got the info about not being able to use it with that kind of kit from......Unless the one you have does away with the MAF for some reason?

I think with 600whp you will start bumping against MAF overload. The best way around that is go MAP based with the Hydra. This is all based on my limited knowledge of tuning though, so I may be a little off here.

You are away above the stock MAF, and probably above the Perrin BIG MAF. I just don't see a 600 whp car without using speed density tuning, in which case, the Hydra is your only current option that won't break the bank.

If your willing to spend the extra money are the Hydra, it will be well worth it. It's not that I feel the UTEC is bad, it's just that the Hydra has many more tuning features and a much more pleasant user interface. Tuning with the UTEC would seem like working in MS-DOS, which you are probably to young to remember.

Phil has tons written up on the Hydra on his web site at www.ElementTuning.com more than you'll ever see about tuning with UTEC. PDX Tuning www.pdxtuning.com has Powerpoint presentation on UTEC that goes through what's available with that system.

I bit*h about Andrew, but I like my Hydra, I'm spoiled by it, and don't think you can do better than Phil for tuning and assistance.

Can you not edit the MAF calibration within Ecutek? I saw stick with Ecutek and get a bigger MAF. There are several options I am sure.
