I've got Morettes with a Brightstar HID kit and about two weeks ago, my passenger side light went out. My first thought was bad ignitor or balast, but a few other strange symptoms exist.

When I run the low beams, only the drivers side works, but my High Beam indicator lamp glows dimly. When I select High Beams, both highs come on, but my indicator goes out completely.

I've also been having trouble with my EGT gauge (Omori). In the past, it has worked well, but if the probe got wet, my readings would go to zero for about 5 or 10 minutes till everything warmed up. Now it just sits on zero. Not related you say? If I run either the parking lights or the headlights, my EGT readings start to go nuts (happens slowly at first, then gets worse). To the extent that my gauge pegged at 2200 degrees. If I turn off the lights, the gauge goes back to zero.

I know Brightstars are kinda cheap, but I'm starting to think its not the balast (I've already ruled out the ignitors by swapping side to side). Maybe a dead relay is sending current through ground or pulling up the 12v?

Any trouble shooting tips would be appreciated.

There may be a bad ground in the dash area. Also check the grounding near the lights. Some Subaru models make a ground connection for the headlights to turn on. Yours may be the same. You could make a ground jumper with a long lead that is tied to the negative of the battery and the other end to the dash area. If that helps then try to find the bad ground lead.

You've got a bad earth somewhere. A low beam is earthing through bot hig beams. This causes the high beam warning light to see about 5 volts so it glows dimly.
