View Full Version : should i get helios 6000k hid's exwrx 05-31-2005, 02:07 PM hi, i have a set of prodrive uk300's and am looking to trade for a helios 6000k hid kit that is in a stock 02 wrx bucket. what do u guys think??? what should i do.???? help thanks exwrx 05-31-2005, 10:20 PM any input?????, c'mon help Mulder 05-31-2005, 10:22 PM Keep the lights you have. They are superior to the stock WRX lights with or without the HIDs. The Prodrives are also hard to replace at this point as they are no longer being sold in the US. exwrx 05-31-2005, 10:42 PM right now my prodrives have not good out put of light. my stock was better. but they got wrecked. some guy is offering me his stock bucket with retrofitted hid kit 6000k into it. he says there bright as hell. so i want brighter and real hid, prodrives are a cheap hid. jsut a projector lense more less. please continue to put input into this thanks Mulder 05-31-2005, 10:48 PM I don't understand why your stock lights would appear to work better than the Prodrives, it shouldn't be that way. The H7 projectors, properly aimed, should easily outperform the OEM lights. Those "bright as hell" factory reflectors with HIDs will produce too much glare to oncoming traffic, they are not made to accomodate HIDs. exwrx 05-31-2005, 11:25 PM i bought the prodrives thinking they were gonna be te **** but all they were was ****, my stock lights have been the best, i had a cheap set of lights also but they sucked also. so my stoc has been best. and the glare does not bother me lol, i wanna piss ppl off with super bright lights lol. thanks again. ATX25RS 06-01-2005, 09:54 PM i find that hard to believe. i have had a GC, drive/ridden in a bugeye, and now own an 04...the bugeye are the least in performance, amoung the last couple of versions of the impreza. mulder is right about the glare. that "hella" bright is nothing but glare. you are better off trying to retrofit hid's in the uk's.....i installed a set of mucculoch HID's 6K in my friends rx8 and wow....that is all i have to say :D Drowner 06-02-2005, 03:04 PM i wanna piss ppl off with super bright lights lol. thanks again. That's nice. Douche. prelude/2.5rs 06-02-2005, 04:04 PM I installed a set ok 4300K Hella ballasts/Philips bulbs in my Prodrive lights. It's definetly an improvement over the halogen in the Prodrives and the stockers. I don't see how these Prodrives are not working out for you. You probably can get a better deal by selling these. You'll be able to make enough $$$ to buy a better HID set(like Hella) plus a set of stockers off of this site. I see stock 02/03 lights going for $100. You then can get an HID set for $200...close to anyways. You can sell the lights for close to $700. Good luck on whatever you choose to do. Mike KAX 06-02-2005, 08:31 PM he H7 projectors, properly aimed, should easily outperform the OEM lights. thats the problem, right there. Mulder 06-02-2005, 09:30 PM Yeah, I don't think this thread will be going anywhere good. |
