I want to tint my windows but i'm not sure how dark to go. I want them dark but I don't want to get hassled by the cops. I know any tint in the front is illegal, but does anyone know (from experience) how dark you can go w/o constantly getting pulled over?

I got 35 in the front doors and 20 in the back and rear window. I havent gotten pulled over yet. (knock on wood). your welcome to check it out its always parked at sears in the mornings.

I am probably going with 30 all around :P

Its all luck. I had 35% on my WRX all around for awhile and never got pulled over, Mike had it for one day and got pulled over. I got 50% all around my latest car just to make sure that I never get bothered by the popo's.

ok, so it sounds like 35ish is probably the way to go. Think i'll swing by sears and check out blackdout's car, see what the difference btwn 20 and 35 is.

i did 20% rear and 35% fronts. no probs so far. had 50% front and 35% rear on my vibe, but not dark enough. i think the 35% looks good, dark enough and also lets in enough light you can see in the front windows still. but only time will tell if i made a good choice or not! lol.

not tryin to steal your post but, where is the best place to go to get tint?

I've had 50% all around on my past three Imprezas and also on my wifes and my own current car, never had a problem with cops. 50% may be a little light for some peoples' tastes but does look classy but not menecing. My last couple tint jobs were at Shades of Competition.

first tint job at shades, second (latest one) was done by a friend. works at one of the car places and does this on the side $175.

I've had 35% around on both my cars up here. I think currently it migth be pushing lower. Legacy was tinted by the now no longer tint place across from perfectionist. Current ride.. Errrrmmmmm, bought that way.

hey everyone, i want to get my car tinted. is 2nd to none any good? they quoted me like $170 for all windows tinted. shades is too expensive...and DIY tints blows...lol. how about the place on northern lights? are they any good?

2nd to none did a co-workers 05 lgt wagon, and it looks great. I was also thinking of hitting them up.

I'm waiting to get pulled over with mine. Being from a small town in Ontario Canada, the cops there never really bothered with much of anything. Window tint and anyone jumping their air suspension down the streets never really got a second look.

i got the fronts tinted 35% and now i wish i'd done it at 20% like the rears. but it's summer so they come in handy. we'll see what happens in the winter when it's always dark outside....

Anybody with that 50% have any good pictures? I've wanted to get some for a while and had kind of settled on 35%... but thought maybe it would be too dark and i'd get tickets... which i definitely do not want.

And the few i've seen with 50% seemed like nothing had changed... before and after, anyone?

The pic doesnt show it, but 35 is GREAT, it is dark enough and the tint place had a bronze-ish type which made it light and classier looking. It is hard to tell in that pic how light it really was. The Audi is a bit more black tint so it seems darker.

I was thinking the Legacy looked darker, m'self.

What type of tinting do they use? I've heard bad things about metallic tint and cell phone reception.

not only that, metalic window tint will ruin your radio reception if you have glass mounted antennas, like the 04+ imprezas.

Ive got 20% sides and back, have pulled right next to po-po and have never gotten pulled over. I think most cops dont freak about it, or care for that matter unless your doing something else more illegaller. < new word.

This was just last Friday. They usually take about most two hours...but I left my vehicle over that because like I told them "take your time"...I got 3 more days so I can roll down my windows...lol. 5 day wait for the tint to settle :)

No ill effects with reception at all but then again we both have different vehicles. As far as the tint they offer it goes along like 50%, 35%, 20% and 5%. I think there would be no problem running 5% in the back. Give them a call 677.2026 for accurate answers....
