View Full Version : Soon-to-be new STi owner
Haakon 06-14-2005, 01:40 PM I thought I would quit lurking and make at least one post. :)
I was told that my STi would be in on June 17th, but the car has yet to be placed on Continental's website, so I think it is going to be later. Ok, there is a correction: Continental was told the 17th and I was just given that information. :) Not trying to bad-month Continental. I just want my STi yesterday. :p
Anyway, it seems that I have probably two more weeks of waiting on my radar. I am also glad I jumped on a '05 before the '06 came out. I am not too impressed with the front end. I was kind of hoping that there was going to be something to off-set the ugliness of the front end such as a sunroof or dual (I think it makes the car look "beefier") exhaust. Aw well, I will save the rest of my rant for another forum where it belongs. :)
Also, I wanted to thank everyone who has posted information about Subaru's in general for this area and in general. It has been very helpful to me to make my decision, though the car tends to speak for itself. ;)
Well, back to lurking. :)
Kiwi Fella 06-14-2005, 02:18 PM Welcome on board!
Have fun and don't get caught!

I just saw 3 STi's arrive at Conti last night. A black, blue, and a grey. Maybe one is yours??
00Maddog 06-15-2005, 12:09 AM I think I worked on your STi today! is it blue?
Im2wrxy 06-15-2005, 12:18 AM Yes his ride is blue (I'll answer since he's just lurking).
cooparu 06-15-2005, 12:51 AM Congrats Haakon. Especially on the '05:)
Hey Jerry, what kind of "work" does a brand new car require after the dealer gets it, before the customer takes it home? (Other than detailing type stuff.) Just curious about that process, I guess I figured they'd just be cleaned up and the keys given to the customer.
00Maddog 06-15-2005, 01:25 AM comes like this-

when I'm done it looks like this- I set the radio staions, clock, calibrate mirror, check fluids, fill the winshield washer solvent things like that. plus I am required by subaru to drive it 5 miles, just to make sure everything works ok. then it goes to get washed.
Disclaimer: Not responsible for my choice of radio stations!! :D
cooparu 06-15-2005, 01:51 AM Not responsible for what happens during those 5 miles, too.
Thanks, Jerry.
Haakon 06-15-2005, 02:01 AM Woo! I got it! Spent most of the night driving it. :) I gotta work in the morning so I had to come home. *sigh*
To any who asked, it is definitely blue as my friend already mentioned for me. It wasn't long after posting the thread, either, that I was notified of my car being here. I guess it sustained damage (as usual for STi's being shipped here) in the front and ended up getting notified a day later.
I wasn't lurking this time! I had an excuse. :D I think my garage is still quite warm from the STi....
Well, I got some light reading to do on the new toy.
Thank again everyone for the info and the congrats. :)

Thanks, Jerry.
I set the shift light and beeper to 4k rpm before the test drive;) haaken this will make break-in easier! keep it set there for at least 500 miles.

I got the silver rims. There is one other blue STi that I seen this winter. I don't remember what rims were on it, though.
I haven't seen your car, either, but that may change while I drive around town trying to break in the car so I don't have to worry about taking things easy. :) So, see ya around maybe. ;)
WRXnFX 06-15-2005, 11:44 PM Welcome and don't be a lurker.
