you may have that record, but only b/c most people dont bother dyno tuning the car with those mods. Most have a full exhaust at least.
SubWRX2002 06-14-2005, 11:31 PM Poster #2 in this POST (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9791778) had slightly more. Diffinatly great numbers though. What psi were you boosting?
REXLR8 06-14-2005, 11:43 PM whats stoping you from opening up the rest of the exhaust?
money...
and im boosting @ around 16psi, i still have to hook a guage up though
SubWRX2002 06-14-2005, 11:56 PM Wow, those are good numbers! I thought you must have been boosting the crap out of it. You could definatly hold that record with full exhaust or maby intercoler and boost up to 17 or something. Great number none the less. How do you like those headers?
V6TurboTA 06-15-2005, 12:21 AM yeah... but whats it run? ;)

REXLR8 06-15-2005, 12:22 AM the headers are pretty good. the only thing is that there is no flex anywhere, and i didnt like the 3-bolt flange from the header to uppipe that much because the top bolt is a bitch to get to, but deffinitly worth the money IMO, there only like 5 and change
Dave6265 06-15-2005, 12:32 AM You got a longggg way to go.. qtp put down like 280 tq. if i recall correctly.

What I was thinking ;)
mbiker97 06-15-2005, 10:53 AM yeah... but whats it run? ;)

Exactly! I can make the dyno read 300 whp for a stock WRX if I want to.
Dizastical 06-15-2005, 11:11 AM I think he will be running the car this weekend at Import wars or the Subaru Shootout . The car should perform well if he can get it out of the hole . When he brought me the car it made 178 HP on 8 PSI . His boost controller was broken so I put in a Turboxs HPMBC . 80 HP gain from some UTEC tuning and 8 more PSI is not bad in my eyes . Even if the dyno reads high its still about a 80 HP gain .

i dunno, ill let ya know on saturday ;)
scottm1978 06-15-2005, 01:27 PM Do you have any dyno graph pics

Yeah.....but whats it trap?
mods:
invidia sownpipe
Is that a new JDM piece?
And I'm surprised nobody asked this yet, whats a stock WRX put down on that dyno? From what you put down with your mods I would guess stockers do 175-195 whp.
Rallycarperson 06-15-2005, 03:36 PM I won't beleive until I see a link. :D
Either you have a really good tune, or the dyno reads high, especially for those mods.

i think stock they put down like 175-180 whp, and no, i dont have a link to the graph unfortunatly, hook me up with a scanner though and ill gladly post it up
seriously though, even though i like the final numbers, im more satisfied with the fact i gained almost 80 whp. i still say the final number is only there to compare to the base number

I'd say you gained about 25hp but found 55hp.. Hehe
Nice numbers. Would love to see some 1/4 miles times and traps..

bren wrx 06-15-2005, 11:51 PM ah the land and sea, 80 gain is great considering 8 psi is nothing when the car runs 13.5 stock

I responded one similar topic once. The fact is that no one ever really maximized the capabilities of the stock turbo, as far as I know most of the people only go half way before jumping into a bigger turbo.
There is about 60% more stuff you can do before making a good claim of making the most out of the stock turbo, perhaps you can:
Ported and polish the turbo
upgrade turbo inlet pipes
cat back headers
wrapp headers and downpipe
NOS
water/alcohol/methanol injection
better intercooler
ground cables
tunning
piggyback/ECU
bigger injectors
bigger fuel pump
better air filter
better BOV
boost controller (like Hallman)
Basicly what I am saying is that most of us stop with the mods after we get the full exhaust, MBC and a couple of more things mainly intercooler and tunning but in reality you can maximize the power by utilizing all of the above mods.

wrxhunter 06-16-2005, 01:22 AM i know of a wrx in my area that has gotten 284 whp out of the stock turbo....hes got a lot more mods that u though :)
garie 06-16-2005, 05:19 AM ^^ouch 284. i want numbers like that

The problem is
"Ported and polish the turbo" it is no longer a stock turbo
"bigger injectors" why as the stock turbo will never need them
"bigger fuel pump" again same as above
QTP has the record for a stock untouched turbo with hi 12 runs @ 105 or something? He had a UTEC tuned by Junior, QTP header, QTP DP, Turbo XS mbc and a few other of your mods. Thing is when you are trying to make more power it is just a lot easier to replace the TD04 because you will make a lot more power for you work instead of dumping a lot of money/time chasing minimal HP :(
xcntrk75 06-16-2005, 08:02 AM ^^^^
I think injectors would help. I run an “untouched” TD04 on my EJ20 and put down 256whp/240ft-lb with a quality tune by TXS. In analyzing UTEC logs, my stock injector IDC’s are maxed-out at peak RPM. The extra fuel available from larger injectors could allow for more aggressive tuning in the higher RPM’s resulting in more power.
But I too agree, why waste the time and money, just upgrade to something bigger and start shooting for the 300whp mark ;)
Dizastical 06-16-2005, 10:27 AM yes land & sea dynos are infamous for being high i understand that . i have had 4 stock wrxs on this dyno and they made anywhere from 175-182 HP and 185-195 TQ . Are TQ numbers are slightly higher than normal . Stock STIs make from 255-260 HP and 260-270 TQ . Stock 2005 Legacy GTs 197-210 HP and 210-217 TQ .

ej20's also dont take very well to nitrous...
QTP's car no longer has the stock turbo, but they still hold that record... I think it was like a 12.5, it's on their site.

Car felt good, Feels like can get more out of it. We squeeze 21 psi out of the stock turbo. Holds it to about 5500 then drops off to 16-17 psi right before i shift.
A little video compilation of it on the dyno and the run.

As Phatron posted 12.782 stock turbo ;) I was doing 12.51 et on my stock turbo. They had a stock TD04 and I filmed it's try at using nitrous...and it was not a long lasting try
WashmyScooby 06-16-2005, 10:20 PM Either way a nice tune none the less. I'm turning Dave loose on my car next week. I am curious to see what he can do. We are going to see how much "safe" hp we can make with a completely stock WRX with just tuning on the UTEC. I'll post before and after graphs when he's done.
Docsuby 06-16-2005, 10:30 PM Hey guys, i have a guys in my area that got JUST a boost controller amd turbo back exhaust, and blew out his 3rd and 4th gear. He CLAIMS he didn't abuse it MUCH. I'm new to the tuning markets, is this guy full of **** or did he drag the piss out of his '02 WRX?
sick1.8t 06-16-2005, 11:40 PM ^^^ or he just beat the hell out of it on the street....
who cares about the dyno dave is the **** when it comes to tuning... i will keep going to dave and refer as many people as i can to him just because what ive seen him do with my car...
thanks dave
true. props to dave for being a killer tuner.

FastSTI24 02-05-2006, 10:20 PM sup guys, any of you guys know somebody port and polish stock sti turbo? i lived in nyc, queens... thanks
Will
Dave6265 02-06-2006, 01:24 AM Phatron I talked to the qtp guy (forget his name) because he was looking to replicate the record on another car and was looking for donor cars. His car is no longer running a td04. I just took a shot at the 12.5, wasn't sure at the exact ET.

i think that dyno is not accurate. seriously look at your mods and at 16 psi come on. lets see your dyno sheet. i say your at least 230-235. maybe when i'm done with my car in a week or two i'll first post my actual true numbers with the stock turbo (untouched) tdo4 on GRD's dyno (accurate) which i'll have the record and it will be a true number. then i go to a another dyno like the dyno jet and get a few pulls and post some crazy unbelievable numbers just so i can be the dyno queen
MachinesWRX 02-06-2006, 01:09 PM Yea, whether the numbers are bogus or not, it doesnt matter because an STi with TBE will still walk on you everytime :p
^really? i beat many stis/evo with exhaust in my stage 2 wrx
evokillerchris 02-06-2006, 04:20 PM  obviously you don't have a clue cause i walk sti's ALL DAY with TBE :p
