Im looking to buy a 1993-1995 GC(any body, 2dr, 4dr, wagon). The body must be in good condition, but i can care less about the drivetrain.

if someone has one for sale, or sees one will you let me know...im going to be in great need of a car once myne gets sold.

thanks
kirill

Keep checking on autotrader. Sometimes a good GC8 will come up, just have to keep looking. Too bad though that you didn't like that '93 I have. Good luck finding one either way. :)

yeah, your GC needed more body work done to it then i wanted to do.

How much you looking to spend? We just popped the motor on a '94 GF. The owner is trying to decide to rebuild it or dump it.

It has WRX/Legacy Turbo brakes, and AGX's w/whiteline springs, and WRX wheels, but otherwise is a stock car. You might be able to limp it home, but trailering it would be your best bet.

Let me know what you would pay and I can run it by the owner...

I'm 'the owner' in question. I didn't post to your thread because I've already comitted to Matt to buy some parts for another frankenbuild. Anyway, I think I spun the #3 bearing, but I'm not sure.

Lemme know if you're interested & I can send you some more info. Another option would be for me to put a running 1.8 or 2.2 into it so you can drive it back to Utah.

What are your plans for this GC? I just bought mine back from my wife's brother. I'm going to drop a 2.5 STi block in it and a MRT dogbox along with some sort of garrett turbo setup, I havn't figured out exactly what setup yet.
Looking at trying to build a 12.5-13.00 sec 1/4 mile daily driver. It's got a td04 turbo, wrx IC setup on the stock 2.2l N/A motor right now. Ran a 14.9 @ 91mph 1/4 mile out at bandi last summer on this setup. Time to step it up!

good idea in just steppin it up to a bullet proof tranny especially if your only plannin on hittin 12's for what your sayin about what setup you want to run a gt30 might work well, also with your plans on putting in a 2.5 block what heads, manifold, ecu do you plan on runnin? a real easy way to get a fast car for us guys with older impreza's is doing an ej20g swap out of an older wrx they are the most direct easiest swap

snowman4us

im planing on doing an EJ20G convertion. a buddy of myne did that and had good results and was relet. inexpensive.

I only put about $1600 into this turbo kit. But i'm thinking about a garrett t3/t4 AR 60. setup this time around. Also I would just do stock 2.5 RS heads with a thin gasket for the compression ratio, about 8:1. But who knows when I get that far maybe the STi heads if I have the cash. The car already has a 2.5" DP and 3" exhaust, I might step it up to a 3" DP though.

im thining it going to cost me something like 2K for the JDM swap w/ trann. and ill be more reliable then the turbo 2.2. with allot more room to improv.

If you're shooting for 260hp or more i'd go 4eat or dogbox, the 2.2/2.0 impreza/wrx tranny can't hold much more. Trust me I shredded 2nd on much less hp. But I have a buddy putting down 264hp to the wheels on a 4eat running 12.9 @102mph at bandi. They don't call it a glass box for nothing!

Here's a few pics of my friends 12.9, 4eat setup.

im going to use the stock JDM wrx tranny, and suposedly its stronger then the USDM wrx.
For now im shooting to get about 250WHP, nothing serious. TBE, intake, engine managment. The ej20G somes stock w/ the tdo5, so thats a mid. range turbo. I just want a Daily Driver that i can take on the track and race.

when i go for big power i would like to use the sti six speed which will handle pretty much any thing you can throw at it

I agree, but I don't care much for the ratio of the STi six speed for 1/4 mile runs. And nothing is more proven then the MRT dogbox, the WRC has shown that! But for the money the STi six speed is the way to go.

snowman4us
06-19-2005, 11:08 PM
the whole thing w/ getting a dogbox is that you loose ALL of your streetability. that thing would just plain SUCK to drive on the streets.
and subarus arent 1/4 mile cars....let your car be and take it to the roadtrack ;)

azn2yunr
06-20-2005, 02:05 AM
oh balonga, you can still drive a dog box on the street. it will just be a little noisy is all

snowman4us
06-20-2005, 02:56 AM
LOL, it would be like driving a model T ford....no syncroes means revmatching "granny shiftin, not double clutching" VanDesil2f2f...

azn2yunr

then just drive everywhere like your racing. ;)

all the aussis do it.

phunkeeHomosapien
06-20-2005, 11:45 AM
yeah i definitely want my car to remain streetable and i am building it primarily for course racing so a dogbox although very sick really wouldnt be neccesary or practical for my application

trisk
06-20-2005, 12:12 PM
I agree that you do lose some drivability with the dogbox, but I am willing to trade that in for a bulletproof transmission. I shredded 2nd gear with only 200whp, and I understand that the STi 6 speed is very dependable but I wouldn't go as so far as calling it bulletproof. But that's just my 2 cents. Goodluck with your project! :)

snowman4us
06-20-2005, 01:36 PM
i guess, JUN uses the stock 6spd on there project STi. i think it put down like 600-650WHP...and to me that sounds like a pritty strong tranny.

thanks trisk, good luck with yours...

those dudes down in puerto rico are runnin an sti six speed and they are puttin out 719 wheel so i feel pretty confident, i mean i want to aim for like around 400 but those straight cut gears do sound awesome and for gear slamming 1/4 mile runs its not a bad idea

Yeah they're putting down some serious power on that tranny, but they haven't been doing it for long. So I guess we will see how long it holds up in the end. But for a 400whp application I don't see the STi transmission giving you any problems. I guess i'm just a sucker for that damn noisy dogbox.

What does it cost to swap a STi 6 speed into a GC8 anyway? I would think it would require quite a few parts, and cost a pretty penny.

phunkeeHomosapien
06-20-2005, 06:22 PM
ya know i have priced it out before but i cant exactly remember exactly, i guess its just a matter of how much you can find a 6spd, rear diff to handle it , clutch, flywheel,
and an automatic driveline for, also shift linkage for the tranny if it doesnt come with it. i think probably around 4,000 give or take depending on how much of a bargain hunter you are

but for a dog box you still need to get most that stuff plus a dogbox tranny is usually at least 3gs

snowman4us
06-20-2005, 10:34 PM
the 6spd tranny is as hard to install as any other manual tranny into a subaru. but like mike(phun) said, you just need a clutch, flywhee, the actual tranny, rear diff. and all of the Hydr. stuff if your car is a cable clutch insead of a hydro from the factory.

azn2yunr
06-21-2005, 12:23 AM
wrong, welll sortof. you can do cable on a hydro tranny. you might not like it as much but you can do it and it does work.

doesnt a 6 speed cost something in the neighborhood of 6k. ive seen them for much less but not verry many.

snowman4us
06-21-2005, 02:07 AM
uhhh, so tell me again why you wouldnt want a hydro clutch?
