I have a 92 lecacy 4wd. I am not having trouble starting the car or anything but i noticed that the power windows are super slow when i try to put them up. I also noticed that if my is just at idle and i push one of the window buttons up or down the rpms drop a little (50-100 rpms). I have searched and have come to the conclusion that the alternator is not charging the batery properly or my batery needs to be replaced. Like i said it is a 92 and it still has the original alternator. The batery is probably 5-7 years old. Does this seem like a logical conclusion?

Thanks,

If it works but is slow, it's more likely a grounding problem. Try cleaning your battery terminals as well as the body grounds in the engine bay.

I already took off the batery cables and cleaned them with baking soda so i think it is grounding just fine.

The car is not just grounded through the battery though- there are several chassis grounds that depend upon good, clean connections. Subaru's switch ground not power, so slow running motors and dim lights are more often than not a result of poor grounds.

How would i go about checking the chasis grounds?

Unbolt or unscrew each one and sand the cable and place it attaches to. There should be one from the battery to the engine and one to the chassey. In addition; you will find several + connections on the battery so remove and clean them to.

All of my batery grounds are fine. I don't know where all of the chasis grounds are. North Ursalia said there were several chasis grounds also. Where do i find these?
