The ECU differences are more significant than people mention in that link. They have been posts on here, and articles published about the 05's being a little "softer" in the engine department than an 04. But just a little, you probably wouldn't even notice...

Radio, antenna is not a coat hanger anymore, nice suspension upgrades. I bought an 05 STi, very nice, fat, instant torque.

I don't think that's true, I believe the seat difference between the 2004 and 2005 STi is just in reference to the lower side-bolsters (by your thighs). The blue escaine material no longer comes up onto the bolster area on the 2005's...it's just solid black cloth material there as seen in this pic of my '05

hmm interesting Andy. Where did you get those mats with the reinforced inserts for the heels? Or did you do that yourself?

My heel is wearing holes in my floormats.

Sorry for the delay, those are Canadian STi mats that I purchased last August from a Subie vendor in Colorado who has gone out of business (Flat4Engineering, I believe). I've seen some pop up from time to time on eBay too. Or, you can contact some Subaru dealers in Canada...some will ship to you in the U.S.

{EDIT} Here's a link to a set on eBay:
