Hi Folks,
I have been experiencing what I thought was the much discussed "AC freezing" - air blows warm then cool on long trips, cycling every 30 seconds. Lately I had begun to hear a squeal from the AC compressor belt so I decided a trip to the shop was in order.
The shop tech reports the problem is "Head pressure too high and dryer clogged, needs AC condenser dryer assembly". The parts list I was handed lists a new condenser, a new belt, the R-134-A (16oz) and in case the compressor is shot due to this clogged dryer, a new compressor.
I wasn't able to speak to the tech (gone for the day) but while I wait for our conversation, I wanted to see if anyone would be kind enough to comment on this situation. It seems like overkill - but I don't know enough about the system to self diagnose.
Appreciate any comments you may have.
