View Full Version : 30 Days to finish the 3.3L Pro Street Tire Drag Monster
scottm1978 06-17-2005, 02:16 PM Hey guys,
I just want share this stuff with all of you since this will be a Scooby that will put the Supra's and DSM's were they belong. (Slower than a Scooby) :D
We plan on making around 1100 AWHP with the car on a sleeved motor and built bottom and top end. Tym and I have been working with the Rigoli brother's on some ideas for the car. They are sending over there built auto from the 8.88 red wagon. They have also shared some interesting things about how to get power out of the motor and the 1100 AWHP is not going to be 2 hard to achieve. Were we will be debuting the car at the St. Louis NOPI event on July 23 and 24. Do to time restrictions and not getting pistons and the sleeved block back in time, we make not have the fully built motor in the car. We may have to run one of the mock up engines but none the less everything thing else will be done and we will make some passes both days with the car. We would love for any one to come out and support us at the event. The end goal is to run high 7's to low 8's so we can be competitive in the Pro Street Tire class against the supra's.
So far we have some sponsors on board and I would like to say thanks and give credit to them for all the help.

railguy 06-17-2005, 02:18 PM Got any details on the turbo setup or is that underwraps?
stickman 06-17-2005, 02:18 PM very nice
scottm1978 06-17-2005, 02:31 PM Got any details on the turbo setup or is that underwraps?
We are going to be using twin GT35r turbos one on each bank, So one turbo will be fed by 3 cylinders. The turbo's are going to be located in the stock fog light location.
Carlos_WRX 06-17-2005, 02:51 PM Good luck guys this is a very intresting project are u guys going to be running Nos? (I guess u will but its always nice to ask)
scottm1978 06-17-2005, 02:56 PM Good luck guys this is a very intresting project are u guys going to be running Nos? (I guess u will but its always nice to ask)
Yes we will be running it to help spool the turbo's.
We are working with Wilson Intakes to sponsor a direct port nitrous setup and burst panels for the intake manifolds. The nice thing about the burst panel is that it helps save the intake manifold if you have a nitrous explosion.
Thran 06-17-2005, 02:58 PM Wow : )
D_REX 06-17-2005, 03:35 PM That motor is LOW, sweet :)

coolblue05 06-17-2005, 04:24 PM I saw this car at Norwalk, very impressive, beautiful color as well. Can't wait to see it with the motor installed and finished. Keep up the good work on an insane car.

scottm1978 06-17-2005, 06:11 PM Any plans to come to the Subaru/Evo shootout in Englishtown, NJ....please????
We would not miss it for nothing. It will be nice to see a scooby win it for a change. We are more excited about that than than beating the Supra's
StealthWRX 06-17-2005, 06:13 PM must have more pics....sweet jesus thats sweet
sashin 06-17-2005, 06:16 PM dang ^^ agreed more pics pleeze... what the cut out in the trunk for? (i am a drag n00b)
z71amigo 06-17-2005, 06:23 PM That would be for the parachute.
railguy 06-17-2005, 06:27 PM I heard that at those power levels, it doesnt matter whether u are awd or not, you will lose traction just like anyother fwd/rwd car. I dont know how true it is, but good luck.
sashin 06-17-2005, 06:28 PM that was my guesstimate... :)
keep us posted on this car....

Although I wont be anywere near you in power or ET's I am so excited that there will be something of this caliber at the event this year
scottm1978 06-17-2005, 06:55 PM Very true we will haze the tires the whole 1/4 mile. Shepard does right now at his power level.
Carlos_WRX 06-17-2005, 07:31 PM Another question I have what type of drive train tranny and diferencial etc.. are u going to run that will hold all that power
MinesFaster 06-17-2005, 07:40 PM reread his very first post for the answers to your questions. As far as the diffs I would venture to guess its R180's. At least if they want them to last more than 4 passes.

Easy Street was well into the 9's on the R160. I have there old axles after they finally upgraded to a R200 Supra diff or something to that extent
speedblind 06-17-2005, 07:56 PM Very cool. Good luck with it!
Javier 06-17-2005, 07:59 PM I can't wait to see this thing at E-town!!
subalou1 06-17-2005, 08:29 PM I cant wait to see it finished, this thing sounds sick.
WRX2FFU 06-17-2005, 09:07 PM I too saw this car at Norwalk. It is nice to see that as good as it looks it will be a racer, not just a show car. Very nice.
WOW this thing will trully be a monsta when she hits the track..
Props for somebody thinking and actually doin something outside the square..
sonicowrx03 06-17-2005, 11:57 PM It is great that people have the talent to build cars like this, it takes a lot of work and money to bring such a monster but this brings me to a different subject, why someone is building such a car.
In all reality there is about .001% of Subaru Owner that can afford to build a car like that.
The 3.3liter engine has absolutely no parts to support it in case of failure, the tranny either, the clutch either, the tires must be special order, the gas that you need to use to run that engine you can't get on any pump station and the insurance will have hard time making a policy that will cover your car so in all essence what is this car really made for?
The ultimate goal of a WRX owner is to have a reliable fast car that you can take it to the track, to work, to home or off road and have fun and at the end of the day it is still a WRX that you can sell if you get tired of. Who would buy such a 1100AWD car anyway?

BigClunke 06-18-2005, 12:33 AM My ultimate goal as a individual WRX owner is to have a reliable fast car that you can take it to the track, to work, to home or off road and have fun and at the end of the day it is still a WRX that you can sell if you get tired of. Who would buy such a 1100AWD car anyway?
*Fixed*
While a whole lot of us share the same philosophy the wrx is starting to age, we are almost 4 years and 3 different styles into the USDM release. More and more people are going to be doing extreme things with our machines as they fall in price. its alot more palatable if you pick up a wrx for 10k to dump 20k into it. when it was released people had a much higher base price to contend with.
We are constantly surprised by the longevity of some owners transmissions/engines. we as a community are still in the early learning stages, sophomoric at best.
I am glad to see projects like this, i'd take 1000hp turbo awd to a 1000hp na v8 any day. Everyone has different objectives; so Let the knowledge base grow (on someone else’s dollar)

you usualy don't sell 1100hp cars.... you turn them into 1400hp cars as you go along. and you blow a lot of stuff up doing it. Its a project that you'll never get your money back on.
But going fast is really effin fun!!!

Chromer 06-18-2005, 01:49 AM n00b question: Since we're talking transplants, anybody know if any EVO owners have successfully crammed and turboed a 3.8L V6 from an Endeavor into an EVO yet? I know of a few "not quite" DSMs (Dodge Avengers) running boosted Mitsu 3.5's, but I don't really follow what happens in the EVO world much.
This 3.3L transplant is very impressive. Best of luck with it.

the 4g63 is working great for EVO guys. if anything they just stroke it using a factory 420 mitsu crank. 4g's make plenty of power, you could domintate the turbo4 class with them anyway. the Import crowd is having much better luck in general with Inline motors than they are V aligned motors ( or H for that matter)

I don't follow your logic. Its irrelevant how many Subaru owners can afford to build a pure drag-racing use car out of a WRX platform. And why do you ask about car insurance on a car that is obviously designed for drag use? Even if it was for street use, do you think most WRX owners on here inform their insurance companies of the mods on their cars?
The original poster already answered your question (in boldface above) in his opening post; this car is made to run with, and hopefully beat the worlds' fastest DSMs and Supras. Posting about it here is a matter of fostering Subaru pride, as well as demonstrating engineering genius, and paving new ground. So your questions relating to the concerns of the "average WRX owner" are completely irrelevant in this context.
This car is an example of someone going to great lengths to create one of the most amazing Subaru's on the planet. If this post was made in the General Community forum, your objections might be justifiable. But we're in the Proven Power Bragging forum. If this beast turns out to be all its billed as, it'll definitely prove power worth bragging about. :disco:
chucktoo 06-18-2005, 07:09 AM Why does anyone build amazing outrageous cars - becasue they can and it is fun. This is one of the "best of breed".

NASTETy92 06-18-2005, 11:45 AM Those wheels look great on the car. Are they CCW 500's? Also what size?
Good luck,

They are 17" centerline wheels.
Over the next 30 days we will be posting pics as things advance on the car and i will also be post video of the car being started for the first time and dyno video along with 1/4 mile testing passes. So keep watching this thread over the next month.
scottm1978 06-18-2005, 12:58 PM I just also want to say thanks for all the support and kind words. We hope to do the Subaru community proud and show the world that a Scooby can run with any other car out there.
bunot 06-18-2005, 01:01 PM i love how they kept the interior. that's awesome. the last thing i wanna hear is the evo crowd bitching about how it's a stripped race car. good luck guys and keep us updated. if you get the thing ready for st. louis, i'm gonna come down from chicago and bring a few peeps to cheer for you guys!!
Scoobs2002 06-18-2005, 01:02 PM WOW...thats gonna be pretty sick when all the bugs and tuning is sorted out.

Great car...Good Luck with it..
Its a shame it cant run in the competition at the EVO-WRX challenge since the restrictions are for street cars only. Guess we will have to rely on Gadiel to kick butt since this car is a PRO class car.
scottm1978 06-18-2005, 02:41 PM The car will be registerd and have plates on it. Heck I will drive it from the hotel to the event and then let them tell me it is not a street car. The cup holder is still in it and works. So I will roll in with a soda also. Sounds like a street car to me. :D
AntiochCali 06-18-2005, 03:48 PM Very nice ride....should consider selling a kit to adapt the 3.3 six into the WRX.
I don't think I've seen a better street driven machine to make expenisve blue tire smoke :D

At least it isn't quite as insane as that Vauxhall with the 700ci Chevy.
battousai 06-18-2005, 06:28 PM Is the trunk a bit off on the rear passenger light? Awesome car, can't wait to see some numbers and runs.
Bloodline_Rex 06-18-2005, 08:00 PM Sweet car. Looking forward to see it run with that monster set - up. I glad that more subie owner are taking horsepower figures to the next level to compete with those high horsepower supras.
cornpops 06-18-2005, 08:07 PM Funny how it takes a full motor swap, stripped down, no stereo or a/c car to beat a real STREET supra with a/c , stereo, and full weight.

Supra fan, eh? You oughtta like this: http://www.thedodgegarage.com/video/kcar_vs_supra_long.zip
This Subaru should be deep in the 8's when it's finished, at least. Find me a full weight Supra with A/C which runs mid to low 8's so I can have some of that delicious humble-pie, ok? Because I haven't seen one ... even at i-supra. :)

Well just wait till BigValley is here with his AC full interior STi which should (with a good clutch  ) be in the 9's.
Plus I have yet to see a 9 sec Supra with AC and a Stereo settup much less the full interior yet

Well I don't for the most part since I tasted AWD I think it is a pain to deal with Hi HP without it.
Does he have AC at least  I can't live without that ;)
BillyC 06-18-2005, 10:08 PM awesome car guys. Keep up the great work.. and uh, dont pull the heart (3.3L) out of any good SVX's.. make sure the car is toasted :)
BillyC 06-18-2005, 10:10 PM Funny how I like to swap with little boys, you know, get them stripped down, turn on the stereo or a/c and have sex in my Supra on the STREET
Fixed.

PLEASE show me a supra with A/C and a full interior and A/C that's running high 8's to very low 9's. Not that you can recall but something a little more concrete than your memory. Of those, how many are back halved cars?
I love a nice MkIV as much as the next guy but please.......Remember where you are

Yup full interior with leather, everything.. You wouldnt know the car was fast if you saw it sitting in a parking lot, well it does have a nice circle cut out of one of the headlights..

They all run 12's.

Oh and i remember where i am, i have been here for 4 years.
That scoob is wicked, and very well engenieered. But to make silly coments like ooh ooh it has 2 less cyls, who cares? If it is fast, that is all that matters to me, if something in its CLASS is faster, it is faster lets not make excuses. I hope that wrx rips in to that class something feirce, and takes some wins, but lets not whine and make excuses.
Scottm1978- What is up with that evo on switzers site? That is a pretty sick car too.. Good luck with the WRX, do some damage..
O2wrx 06-18-2005, 11:13 PM 80k mile stock automatic supra add a Turbo, fuel, exhaust,em and it went 10.40 on radials full street trim.
Supras are great cars, so are Sti, Evo, so run what ya brung and hope its enough. but remember Supras have been around since what 93 so give the sti 10 years and yeah im sure the same is possible

I was gonna say the same thing. The Supra in the K-car Vid dyno'd at 700 hp and ran a low 12 against a 10 second K-car that had 500 hp and was about 10 years older. The guy bought the K-car for $500 and spent less than 15,000 to put it into the mid 10's including race fuel, and tires ... hard to beat that.
Supras are nice, but there are faster drag cars for the money. And for the 60K it would take to buy a Supra and put it into the 9's ... I'd rather buy a new Z06 and kick the Supra's azz at the road-course.

It should be done in about the next 2 months or so. We are trying for an EVO top speed record with the car.

Plus I have yet to see a 9 sec Supra with AC and a Stereo settup much less the full interior yet
hmm..lets see. Don't have to travel too far. There's atleast 4 here in houston. Duy with his 9.9 sec street supra. Old piggybacks, full weight, full stereo, and here's the kicker. 18" drag radial tires on volk gt-c's. We got peter blach that ran a 9.6 on a full weight factory 6 spd stock irs car. We have henry who on the old setup ran a 10.1 back like 4 years ago on a fully stock longblock top to bottom, drag radial street tires, and full weight plus stereo. He's got a super large turbo now =) Marko, well who could forget marko. 8.6 or quicker car, i can't remember. Full weight full stereo you name it. Daily drives that car to the freakin club and lets valet park it. Sp has a car that's full weight and runs into the 9's. Horsepower freaks has put a car recently in the 9's with a wavering boost control. Ryan woon is a mad driver with 9.3 on a STOCK 6 spd full weight. SW went 9.8 on an old school t72 full weight STOCK 6 spd. I could go on. Oh, and all cars have a/c. Can't live without a/c in texas =)
cornpops 06-19-2005, 04:24 AM oh, i forgot. None of these cars are back-halved. All of them are on stock irs. Who the hell does that anyway? These are STREET cars remember? Oh man..don't forget virtual works guys. 8 second STREET car full weight plus cage ripping up busas in las vegas. Now YOU tell me how many subarus are in the 9's on a full weight plus a/c and can be considered a TRUE street car. Street car as in frequently visiting the streets and cracking some ass and not "yes this car can techically roam the streets".

so you mean those street cars are running those times on street tires as well? Supras are really nice cars, but don't see too many of them at road courses. :(
battousai 06-19-2005, 06:31 AM Philip (cornpops), shut up. Shall we proceed to ask why Hondas swap engines as well?

Yeah there impresive and all and I would take 1 if I found a deal on one but they haven't been made for how long now  You can buy an STi brand new today and in NJ the AWD comes in a bit handy.
Besides if I wanna go 9's that bad I could just buy a R1 and do it stock on pump gas or bolt my 502 in my 69' Camaro  but this is a Subaru board so I kinda stick to the subject.
jbotage9er 06-19-2005, 12:06 PM Hey guys good work so far
I have been thinking about what you would do with the H6 with 2 turbos for a while. I just ended up with a stock STI though. I am just glad to see someone has finaly tried it. best of luck to you all! I plan on checking back every so often. keep us updated!
cornpops 06-19-2005, 04:05 PM so you mean those street cars are running those times on street tires as well? Supras are really nice cars, but don't see too many of them at road courses. :(
I see plenty of road courses. Supra nationals each year they all invade texas world speedway. Oh and please read my post again. Two of those supras were running those times with STREET drag radials. Kean wang of austin also runs 9's on street radials. Horsepower freaks runs 9's on their 6 spd on street radials.
Shall we proceed to ask why Hondas swap engines as well?
Hondas are teh gay.
Anyway enough of the supras. I was trying to provide some good information since people don't realize what the cars are capable of.
sabaka95 06-19-2005, 04:33 PM Please guys don't go off on a Supra thing. I want to keep this thread to keep everyone up to date on the car and not get it locked cause of arguing.
Scott,
Hope you live close enough to the east coast so that you can bring the car to the EVO-WRX challenge in August. I know I will be there and hope to see some cars in the 9's to challenge AL.
Dont worry about all that jabber trying to bash your car there are a lot of jealous people out there who would love to try what you are doing.
Funny how your getting bashed by people talking about other peoples's cars
You have plenty of people rooting for you!!!!!
pux888 06-19-2005, 04:34 PM dont you understand, people do realize what their capable of, this is a suby forum....if we wanted to talk supras we would go else where. hopefully this thread can stay focused on subarus!
gpatmac 06-19-2005, 05:34 PM Hondas are teh gay.
Scott asked nicely once if we could maintain the integrity of this thread. TTH6 is one of the most innovative paths anyone could venture. Let's talk about his car.
cornpops 06-20-2005, 12:25 AM tt h6? don't those porsche twin turbos have that setup? Anyway, sweet car. Hope it'll hook up down the track. How much psi are you planning too boost and what are you using to tune it with?
n2xlr8n 06-20-2005, 10:15 AM My question is:
Is the chassis work complete?
scottm1978 06-20-2005, 11:42 AM My question is:
Is the chassis work complete?
Yes it is complete and we have added some strutual bracing to the car to help with twisting under power.
tt h6? don't those porsche twin turbos have that setup? Anyway, sweet car. Hope it'll hook up down the track. How much psi are you planning too boost and what are you using to tune it with?
We are tuning with the AEM since they have stepped on board to sponsor a box and any other stuff we may need. They make one of the finest products out there for tuning. We just tuned a Stock scooby with turbo back with cat in down pipe on 94 octane and gained 80 foot pounds of torque with just the AEM. The car put down 280 foot pounds of torque. So with this Tym decided that the scooby's really do well with the AEM. As for boost and nitrous we are running a 75 to 100 shot just to spool the turbo's. Boost will be in the area of 35lbs each.
And thanks guys for helping get the thread back on track. I should have some more pics of the car, soon
Pedestrian 06-20-2005, 01:25 PM That is an awesome setup guys. How much fab does it require to drop an H6 into a 02+? Is it something those who are thinking of regular JDM motor swaps should consider? (Dont worry Cronic, Im still set and happy with the v8 coming :))
quicktsi 06-20-2005, 01:46 PM Plus I have yet to see a 9 sec Supra with AC and a Stereo settup much less the full interior yet
You might want to check out the quickest six speed in the nation. WOTM's car runs in the nines wityh a full interior and a six speed with off the shelf tein coil overs. 3800 in the burnout bax and 9 sec et's.

Unfortunately what those magazine dont tell you about those cars is that the minute that they get in competition they break something. Check out that cars record when he tried to run those times in competition. Making one pass and being able to do it more than once is two different cars...
This is a scooby forum anyway...rear wheel drive burnouts are nothing...
cronic 06-20-2005, 03:27 PM I hear there is a thread about an H6 twin turbo, have you guys seen it? Lets keep this on topic for the original poster, as he was nice enough to even give us these pics, and details..
Dave S

Completely different leage from a regular jdm swap. Beyond all the custom chassis modification and strengthening to prevent twisting the H-6 is an NA engine from the factory. They have to rebuild the engine to handle boost as Scott stated above.
Phatron 06-21-2005, 08:33 PM Find me a full weight Supra with A/C which runs mid to low 8's so I can have some of that delicious humble-pie, ok? Because I haven't seen one ... even at i-supra. :)
Plus I have yet to see a 9 sec Supra with AC and a Stereo settup much less the full interior yet
PLEASE show me a supra with A/C and a full interior and A/C that's running high 8's to very low 9's. Not that you can recall but something a little more concrete than your memory. Of those, how many are back halved cars?
I think we all need to take a chill on bashing the supra until we have a list 100 deep on scoobymile of times below a 10.7.
Many of these cars are on the stock internals and stock trannies and many of them weigh over 3300 lbs

Guess what?you really need to stop. We all pretty much know that a 6cyl Supra can beat a 4cyl Subie....thanks for stating the obvious.
Whatever this list you are giving us of obvious PRO COMPACT CARS we really dont need especially since I actually attend NOPI and NHRA Sport Compact events.
Tell me how many of these guys have you actually met and asked them what it takes to build these cars and how much they spend...If you actually knew NHRA rules you would know that you have to have the same brand block in the car there is no crossbreeding....They have Toyota Blocks...end of the similarity between them and SUPRAs
You are probably like all the other know-it-alls that read a few magazine articles or look online and you think you know everything.
You know I actually had respect for some of the things you have said in posts before but when you say that you actually think that there is any similarity to all those pro cars and a stock supra...you have lost it...
Guess then you could say that we all know that the NHRA Top Fuel DRagsters all have the heart of a MUSTANG or CORVETTE or whatever...get a life you are comparing apples to oranges....
This is a subie forum. If you guys hadnt started with all this supra crap no one would have said anything...
If you like Supras so much, go and buy one and come out and defend its honor at the drag strip.
runwrxrun 06-22-2005, 01:13 AM um. so that 3.3L, uh. must be quick. uh......
scottm1978 06-22-2005, 12:59 PM please take this here www.supraforums.com and not in my thread
scottm1978 06-22-2005, 01:04 PM For anyone who cares we chose the 3.3L because it will make it easier to push out to a 3.5L for when the other guys step it up. We took the approach of being able to keep the car competitive for a very long time.
Sorry I did not stay on topic with the supra thread.

The 3.3 is actually supported by JESEL as Frank Aragona set records in Comp Eliminator with it. I wanted to turbo my SVX when I had it but no one really had any decent 4EAT transmissions yet so I traded it for a WRX :D
Carlos_WRX 06-22-2005, 03:58 PM :furious: bla bla bla with the supras those are the past this is the new future scott good luck with your car hope to keep being informed it is very intreasting and I know of a few people here in Puerto Rico that are being inspired to do something similar. Cant wait to see some dyno numbers and better yet some track numbers. Good Luck :)

Well OBVIOUSLY these people didnt know. I didnt start anything. They ask for someone to show them some 8,9, 10 second supras so i did.
Find me a full weight Supra with A/C which runs mid to low 8's so I can have some of that delicious humble-pie, ok? Because I haven't seen one ... even at i-supra.
Whatever this list you are giving us of obvious PRO COMPACT CARS we really dont need especially since I actually attend NOPI and NHRA Sport Compact events.
There are 98 other cars above those that arent pro cars.
Tell me how many of these guys have you actually met and asked them what it takes to build these cars and how much they spend...If you actually knew NHRA rules you would know that you have to have the same brand block in the car there is no crossbreeding....They have Toyota Blocks...end of the similarity between them and SUPRAs
I have never met any of them. And yes i know its expensive. And i was told once, "You wanna know how to become a millionaire drag racing? Start off as a multi millionaire." But that has nothing to do with it. Several people wanted to see some full weight supras so i gave them a list.
You are probably like all the other know-it-alls that read a few magazine articles or look online and you think you know everything.
How am i possibly trying to act like a know it all. I took 2 minutes googled a supra forum, found a drag list and copy and pasted it. I was answering several peoples questions.
You know I actually had respect for some of the things you have said in posts before but when you say that you actually think that there is any similarity to all those pro cars and a stock supra...you have lost it...
This is a subie forum. If you guys hadnt started with all this supra crap no one would have said anything...
Please tell me where i said that there is a similarity to the 10 pro cars at the bottom of the long list. There are 98 cars above that, many of which are stock block, stock tranny, full weight daily drivers. Those were the ones of interest. This is all i said when i posted. And I didnt start any of this, I just posted to inform all those that were saying there was no way a supra could run anything below a 12.
I think we all need to take a chill on bashing the supra until we have a list 100 deep on scoobymile of times below a 10.7.
Many of these cars are on the stock internals and stock trannies and many of them weigh over 3300 lbs
Phatron 06-22-2005, 05:38 PM Sorry to the original poster. I will take any further OT posts to PM.
Sorry.
Phatron 06-22-2005, 05:46 PM Do you guys have a website with more pics of the build up?
I want to see the full motor in that beast. Or is that as far as it is right now?
Tym and I have been working with the Rigoli brother's on some ideas for the car. They are sending over there built auto from the 8.88 red wagon.
Is their red wagon done racing? Or is it one of their old trannies? Or are they putting in something new?
And do you think that tranny will hold all the extra torque of the 3.3L? Or are you modifying it or are the Rigolis modifying it and sending it to you?
runwrxrun 06-22-2005, 11:12 PM ENOUGH WITH THE SUPRAs ALREADY, JEEEEEZ!!!!

5spd Alcyone 06-29-2005, 03:34 AM did aem make a map/harness adapter for your eg33? I just read all 5 pages, and i cant say ive been this excited since i baught my first SVX 6 years ago. Now on my 2nd with a full 5spd 4.11, everything you can do and some, that ran 14.5 on the motor. I have recently purchased a 57 trim(.63 turbine), 26x6.5x3.5 core, tial 38mm wg and 50mm bypass. If your telling me i can run an aem with my svx without a huge PITA, i may have to drive down there to kiss you!!! I am eagerly awaiting to run 8lbs(that seems to be reasonable on pump/stock) And cant wait to see what your car can do. If you guys arent too busy i would love to have you tune my car as well. I was gonna piggyback untill further funding. Do you have an email address i could chat with you about this further? Im shooting in the dark here. I do have a shop that turbocharges most anything, but as far as tuning and running boost on a stock eg33, you seem to be my new best friend ;)

scottm1978 07-19-2005, 12:30 PM Sorry guys.
The car will not be done. We ran into a ton of snags with getting parts back from the machine shop. All the parts are custom made so it takes forever to have made. We are going to be there to show what is done with the car.
I will keep every one up to date on how things are going. We are hoping to have it up and running soon though. We are still waiting to receive the Auto from the Ragoli's. They are moving shops so it has been crazy for them also.
Thanks for all the support and we will not let you guys down or the Subaru community down.
Thanks again for all the support.
Please stop by at the event and show your support. It means alot to us.

scottm1978 07-19-2005, 03:34 PM HAHA, Then you woke up.
That is fine if you feel that way.
You maybe right you maybe wrong but at least we have chosen to take on this project. Building a car like this takes a large amount of time and tons of money and many of the industry leaders believe that the goal of a low 8 second street Subaru will come from this project. That is why AEM, TIAL, Forced Performance, Tony Rigoli Performance, and Wilson Intake Manifolds have come on board. These are not companies that just throw products or money at a project that is not going to work.
There are going to be plenty of people that have bad things to say which is fine. You will always have the people who love to stir trouble and put ideas down just like the people who said a Talon would never run 12's then 11's then 10's. But these goal have never been reach by the nay sayers just by the people who chose to do there own thing and keep after the goal.

I read alot of this post. The thing that I got from it is that I believe this can be done. I would say that you just shouldn't brag about it. Just go to the track and do it. I was the part owner of a Pro Stock Honda that finished second in Nopi points race three years ago. When people would ask how fast we were going to go. I would always repond" It Should go _____ if everything works out." I would never say things like" We will hand everyone there asses" . Just do less talking and go do it. I do hope that you guys do well. It's good to see something new out there. Good luck.

I agree with you.
My post about the Supra's and DSM's was a joke. I guess I should have said it with a smile or somthing. It is a joke because Tym is a DSM guy from way back and lately we have been tuning tons of Supra's and building them. The scooby is the red headed step child of the shop. It was not meant to say we are going to hand them there ass. My post was taken wrong.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who likes DSM's and WRX's. :D Anybody at the shop own a GVR4? Are you guys going to have it done for this season? I think that you are doing it way better than Easystreet. I have always thought that" Keep it simple stupid" is a much better way to go than the way they are headed. Do you know whats going on with them after that debockle that happened in Texas.

jnorth85 07-27-2005, 02:54 PM amazing, yet beautyful.
Phat04WRX 07-27-2005, 05:34 PM Wow. amazing looking car and those two turbos there are just too damn sexy.
jnorth85 07-27-2005, 05:36 PM so is it up and running? after seeing the pics of the front end it looks like the turbos are mounted?
2002WRXSTi 07-27-2005, 06:10 PM That is one serious cage setup
MBDarkwinter 07-27-2005, 06:39 PM gahh..... I agree^^^^
The cage alone in your car is like art...
Good luck!
Caplin 2.5 07-27-2005, 11:53 PM What was required to get the motor to fit?
DIABLOsti 07-28-2005, 03:13 AM i just wanted to say GOOD LUCK, and never let anyone talk you down on what can be and what can't be done. Wish you all the best...btw...that car looks SICK!
crashandburn 07-28-2005, 08:48 AM Funny how a Ford 9" rear end is worth more in the 1/4 mile than an extra 100HP for most supras...
Lol What do a 500,600, and 700HP Supra all have in common?
(besides arrogant trustfund baby owners...)
They all run 12's.
Soo true on both, but the Ford 9" is worth a lot of power on just about any RWD strip car.
I wanted to do something like this monster, but use a Legacy wagon. The only holdup was money, and my gross inexperience with engine tuning.
Make us proud.
spencerxi 07-28-2005, 11:21 AM wow nice ride
DeepFreeze 07-28-2005, 11:49 AM Yes it is the SVX engine

2002WRXSTi 07-28-2005, 07:30 PM Soo true on both, but the Ford 9" is worth a lot of power on just about any RWD strip car.
The 9" Ford rear takes a tenth off your 1/4 miles time. You could use a Dana 60 but the things are to heavy. The way we try to do it is use a center section that uses 12 bolt Chevy gears in the 9" housing so you free up some of the drag used up by the 9" gears :(
txjunglist 07-29-2005, 09:27 AM holy crap that car looks mean. turbo fog lights .. thats soo rice :)
kaos200 07-29-2005, 05:27 PM judges can we get a ruling?....
DEFINITELY the most unique turbo setup Ive seen on a subie yet...
Im inspired...

scottm1978 08-08-2005, 03:38 PM We finally got the transmission the other day.
We are running an air to water intercooler with the throttle bodies built in to it. Kind of like the white talon Tym did a few years back that was in Turbo Magazine.

beavis820 08-08-2005, 04:14 PM i may have missed it but what trans is it to hold 1100whp???
scottm1978 08-08-2005, 04:35 PM It is the auto out of the Rigoli wrx that ran 8.88 et. The box was freshened up and is built to handle 1100 whp. It is a fully built race box not just an auto or a built wrx auto.

I would love to have that in my car
dudical26 08-09-2005, 11:28 AM why have you decided not to completly gut the inside of the car? I notice there is still trim on the doors and center console and dash and all.

Quack 08-09-2005, 01:30 PM just stopped by the shop quickly. it's looking good. the trany is in and they are working on the IC
gebers69 08-09-2005, 08:55 PM Class rules.
NOPI Pro Street Tire Class
Hey Scott,
Just to give you the heads up as the rules of Pro Street Tire. I thought that you said you have two throttle bodies. If so you cant run in PST because stock configuration of the throttle body has to be maintained. If you have the engine in a WRX you have to run a single throttle body since thats all that came in a WRX......Since everything else in that category is open that is one of the first things that the techs look to bust you on.
If I misunderstood what you said that you had...sorry...
good luck with it anyway :p
SW00P_G 08-10-2005, 01:06 PM I saw that beast in person. Let me tell you that not only is it gonna be stupid fast. But the paint and color is unbelievable!!
scottm1978 08-10-2005, 02:44 PM We talked to nopi and running the twin throttle body is allowed in that class with our set up. We spent a ton of time over 8 month talking to them about rules while building this car. But thanks for the info anyways.

wgknestrick 08-15-2005, 08:58 AM I take it:

Are you guys having problems?
scottm1978 08-15-2005, 09:13 AM Some new pics.

RALLYT-WRX 08-15-2005, 09:19 AM Wow! it looks like you had to do minimal mods to the subframe in order to get the H-6 to fit. Do you have anymore underbody shots?
txjunglist 08-15-2005, 09:43 AM is this configuration gonna work? I thought the garrett needs verticle oil lines.
scottm1978 08-15-2005, 09:47 AM is this configuration gonna work? I thought the garrett needs verticle oil lines.
Yes it will work we are using a remote dry sump oil system for the turbos.
I will try and get some more under car shots also.
wcbjr 08-15-2005, 10:03 AM Nice pics.

SVXelerator 08-19-2005, 11:56 PM Scott,
Awesome work! You are definitely breaking new ground! Having more people pushing the envelope with the H6 benefits the entire Subi community. Are you running 3.55 gears in the 4HEAT?
Can't wait for more pics and videos!
AvPPoW 08-20-2005, 10:34 PM We would not miss it for nothing. It will be nice to see a scooby win it for a change. We are more excited about that than than beating the Supra's
So much for that. All us SVX'ers were out there to root for you and you didn't show up. Whatever
scottm1978 08-21-2005, 01:59 PM So much for that. All us SVX'ers were out there to root for you and you didn't show up. Whatever
The car is not running and we have the motor out to fit up some thing to try and have it running by NOPI Nationals.
YOu have to keep in mind that this is being built all out of my pocket except for some sponsored parts. So far I have $90,000 into the car including labor. So the money is a little low right now and things have slowed with the build since I need to finish customers cars so I can get some more money to get the project rolling.
Very sorry for letting you guys down, people have just got tired of us showing up with an unfinished race car. Most people have no clue the money and time it take to complete a project like this.
Once again sorry for letting you down but an unfinished car would have done the scooby's no good.
bajatuner 08-21-2005, 02:10 PM So much for that. All us SVX'ers were out there to root for you and you didn't show up. Whatever
I cant believe someone even has the balls to say something like that...a lot of time, money and effort has obviously been put into this car. When you spend that amount of time and money on a car lets see you go risk racing it when its not ready.

Honestly, I would have been happy just to drool over it on the sidelines. Us over at Subaru-SVX.net have been watching the project anxiously to see what you can pull off with our motor. There's a couple FI SVX's out there, but nothing to the degree that your doing. We're all rooting for ya. I can understand the reasoning for not bringing the beast to e-town, but a posting an update would have been nice, I mean Chike did ask you for an update a page ago.

It doesn't take balls to be a little bit dissapointed in spending 2 hours in traffic and wasting $15 at the gate for nothing. I never said anything about racing it, all I could have asked for was an update.

AvPPoW 08-21-2005, 05:31 PM Wasting $15...real subbie enthusiast you must be AvPPoW
$15 is a much bigger deal after $3000 worth of transmission work, engine work, exhaust, and seals.
SVXelerator 08-21-2005, 11:28 PM Scott,
$90K, you're almost into real money with that beast!
How about some pics to keep up on the SVX/EG33 side of the fence happy until you have everything ready to run?
2002WRXSTi 08-22-2005, 12:15 AM If the SVX guys want to see some stuff with the SVX engine just look at Frank Aragona. He was running this engine with carbs in Comp Eliminator doing 8.715@144.55. They even had Jesel make valve train parts for the heads.
I have been trying to catch up to him at a NHRA event to get a bit of info on what exact mods they had done, now that they don't use the engine anymore. :(
