Where do you normally dispose of your used oil and how much do you normally pay for the disposal? Thanks, Mark GFimpreza 06-18-2005, 03:22 PM Auto zone and other parts places collect it for free. deebo 06-18-2005, 03:22 PM some auto stores accept used oil... 8Complex 06-18-2005, 03:45 PM AutoZone and Pep Boys are free, I know for sure. I don't know about Murrays, Checkers, Advance Auto, Lee Auto, or Napa, though. sdogg3kgt 06-18-2005, 04:09 PM Murrays is free as well around here. richy_21 06-18-2005, 04:50 PM Autozone!! Dash_Martino 06-18-2005, 04:52 PM autozone or advanced is usually more than happy to take ur erl teh Phil 06-18-2005, 04:56 PM I use my county recycling's central location. You drive in, dump your oil, and you're on your way. Mike Wevrick 06-18-2005, 05:41 PM Local annual toxics recycling day. Also old batteries, paint, etc makanai 06-18-2005, 08:18 PM I think some WalMarts will take your used oil. Autozone will take it as well. Just finished an oil change today. MAK ncarn8 06-18-2005, 09:51 PM burn it in a oil burning garage heater. No smoke, good heat. Aparrently less emissions than other combustion heaters as well. Mandrich 06-18-2005, 09:53 PM Thanks for all the responses. I was also told today that even though most oil change places will say "No", they are required by Illinois law to take used oil. Any truth to this idea? dougboudreaux 06-18-2005, 09:53 PM You mean you guys don't keep it and cook eggs in it? Soul Assasin 06-19-2005, 07:08 AM Pour it down the gutter, just kidding, take it to local autoparts store. DJ_STI 06-19-2005, 11:17 AM I also heard a MA law that whatever place sells motor oil has to accept used motor oil WRX-pilot 06-19-2005, 06:37 PM Us Californians can search for places here: http://www.ciwmb.ca.gov/UsedOil/CrtCntrs.asp Psydotek 06-19-2005, 09:11 PM I also heard a MA law that whatever place sells motor oil has to accept used motor oil It's supposed to be like that here in California too. WRX-pilot 06-19-2005, 09:53 PM But what if you bought motor oil at the grocery store? DrD 06-19-2005, 09:56 PM just unloaded 4gal at Pep-boys (no charge) - sometimes they'll take the containers, other times they make you dump it in the drum and take your containers with you (I just use milk jugs) Frank Zuccarini 06-20-2005, 10:36 AM I always bring my used oil to Jiffy Lube. Only twice have I had one of the Lubrication Technicians say "No, we don't accept used oil". In both cases I asked to speak with the location manager, and in both cases I was then told "Of course we'll take your oil". Here in Illinois, you don't have to drive far to find a Jiffy Lube. Frank dsm_mike 06-20-2005, 06:09 PM I think most places that sell oil have to take used oil, as mentioned above. Rickyh 06-21-2005, 06:27 AM Pour it into a plastic jug and put it in the trash. From there I don't care what happens to it. watts 06-21-2005, 10:25 AM Pour it into a plastic jug and put it in the trash. From there I don't care what happens to it. dont listen to him, if youve already got it in the jug, go the extra mile to an autozone, lappens, etc and recycle the stuff.
