They were posted a couple of days ago, so this info may already be out there, but I did a search here and didn't turn anything up... anyway, they're worth checking out if you haven't already...

CirrusWRX 06-20-2005, 02:27 PM Is it still safe to call this a GDx, right?
quentinberg007 06-20-2005, 02:34 PM Is it still safe to call this a GDx, right?
Yep.. still a GD...
There were actually 2 generations/faces of the GC as well.

C-daleRidr 06-20-2005, 05:13 PM It is a good looking car. Not hot on the tail lights, but that's all the rage with the kids these days I guess.

Yeah. We should actually call this new one Generation 2.3 or something.

its the exact same car ... (body wise) ... the only problem with fitting that diffuser is if you are gutsy enough to drill holes in your pilars ...
quentinberg007 06-20-2005, 06:59 PM Yeah. We should actually call this new one Generation 2.3 or something.
Haha, I like that nomenclature.
93-96 = Gen 1.1
97-01 = Gen 1.2
02-03 = Gen 2.1
04-05 = Gen 2.2
06-__ = Gen 2.3

Yeah, we are still on the second gen. Facelifts don't change the gen. Kinda like S14 a/b.
impreza99 06-20-2005, 08:35 PM good find, nice pics
SkylineR35GTRx 06-20-2005, 08:46 PM so regular wrx doesnt get a hoodscoop anymore?
intence 06-20-2005, 08:56 PM it still does
neuspeed 06-20-2005, 09:04 PM so regular wrx doesnt get a hoodscoop anymore?
The one's without a hoodscoop are impreza's.
J-Rex2004 06-20-2005, 09:26 PM But WRX's are Impreza's what gives???111!!!
better to say RS's :)
wrx222 06-20-2005, 09:50 PM I like the red gauges on the wrx now, but when are they going include a clock in the display of the radio and offer that handy GPS pop up screen.
WhiteStallionGT 06-20-2005, 10:16 PM It's growin on me!!!
jigga 06-20-2005, 10:21 PM its the exact same car ... (body wise) ... the only problem with fitting that diffuser is if you are gutsy enough to drill holes in your pilars ...
Pillars? Oh I think you are referring to that little wing hangin off the rear glass... Not really my cup of tea :(
I was referring to the black diffuser mounted underneath the car to manage airflow. I have the oem rear skirt with the built in diffuser, but I like the looks of the more substantial piece bolted onto the undercarriage of the new STi. :)
jamesohoh7 06-21-2005, 08:33 AM I imagine this has been asked in one of the multi-hundred post threads, but I didn't see it: Any mention in any of this literature of upgraded paint you know, durability wise?
The single biggest 'but' that I have to tell friends who are thinking about Subarus is that the paint is pretty easy to chip... then I point to the front end of my car (only 25K miles on it) and they're like "hmmm... eek". My '95 Nissan truck (100K+ miles) has virtually no rock chips, but my '04 WRX has tons.
Nice pics - If only the sketch was the real deal (with the extra front air intake - a la Evo; and the shorter, almost coupe like wheelbase)

Dutch 06-21-2005, 01:52 PM ****, i want a subaru.
does anyone know if pricing is gonna increase on these new models? in the past years when subaru brought out new models did the pricing change much? Im just interested in the RS model or TS or w.e. its called. I am currently in univ and cant afford a wrx or sti :(

By 15k mine looked like I took a shotgun to it.
Even my mother's 2003 Accord has way less paint damage despite the ~50k miles on it, and the paint is the same "generation" of modern, lead-free paint, so it's not like one is some super-tough old lead-based paint.
Honda just uses better quality, better process, or more of it. Either way, Subaru *must* fix this to go "upscale".
Wonder if the Saabarus fare any better?
Mark Avery 06-22-2005, 07:41 PM I just drove by a dealership and saw a ton of 06 Imprezas on the lot. Oh wait, that was a Suzuki dealership. Never mind.
mtnboy 06-22-2005, 07:53 PM I'd take those seats in a second... otherwise the interior looks strikingly like the one in my garage... Will they come heated? :)
I do sort of like the look- it looks pretty pissed. The diffuser though? The ones without it look so much cleaner, IMHO...
Beaverboy 06-23-2005, 07:56 AM But WRX's are Impreza's what gives???111!!!

Even better to say i's. 1.5i, 2.0i, 2.5i, WRX, WRX STi
Has the future of the RS been confirmed?

But the fenders never changed. All metal stayed the same except for a very slight difference to the hood.

Hood, headlights, grill, and bumper all changed. (speaking of the US) So, technically the only metal that changed was the hood (because of the plastic bumpers. )
In Japan, the more aggressive headlights/grill/hood went with the Ver 1-IV front bumper for 1 year (Ver IV). I would say that the US recieved a pretty substancial facelift in 97, though. It wasn't as drastic as the 04 and 06 facelifts, but still was a huge step forward in updating the look. The fender style of the GD has always been more or less the same; it was just altered to accomodate different headlights.
