So I've finally gotten around to getting my Xede back in the car. I initally had it spliced directly into the harness but put the car back to stock about a year ago. I finally managed to procure a breakout harness from Vishnu which I wired the Xede up to. Here start my problems:
- I started the car and instantly got a CEL. The LED on the Xede is green so I know it thinks it's functioning fine. Ok, no big deal that happened a few times before.
- Double check that I've got a totally blank map loaded, reset the ECU to start again, still a CEL. I don't have a ODBII reader (bad pete, no biscuit) so I don't know what the code is.
- I decide I'd see what the car was doing anyway even though it had a CEL. I drove the car around the, typical to poor perfomance, ~7psi boost max.
- At this point I figured I'd messed something up with the harness so I took it back inside to double check everything. Everything checks out.
- Back to the car and try again even though I'd done nothing new. Same results, CEL, wastegate boost.
- At this point I was still convinced it was a harness problem so I checked the continuity of each line. They all checked out fine.
- Next step is to patch around the Xede so I fashioned a lookback so I could run with the harness but no Xede. I hooked this up and the car ran fine, in a completely stock fashion with no CEL. It's not the harness wires.
- Pull out the loopback and hook up the Xede. Same problems as before. Checking all the Xede status and diagnositics shows that the Xede thinks it's perfectly happy. MAP, MAF and TPS readings show up in the data logger.
So this is where I am right now. I have double checked the wiring a few times to make sure nothing was hooked up backwards. I might check it again for the 5th time since the only thing I can guess is the boost is backwards... even though I've already checked it.
Does anyone have ANY ideas what the problem might be? The only other thing I can consider is that the Xede has died.
