Does any one have some inside info on SCC's project Impreza? Last I read, they rebuilt the tranny and replaced the gearset and diffs. I've been mailing them all the time but still no word as to when they were going to continue with the articles. Damn these people! Don't they know what they're doing to us!

Last time I saw the car it was at ISR with no engine in it....but that was 2 months ago.

There's a fellow by the name of "shiv" on the board that might be able to comment on the status... ;)

wasn't shiv going to try and blow up the engine in that car or something like that?

Shiv tested the motor and achieved just under 300hp at the wheels on race gas at 10-13psi. The motor was then pulled and will be dismantled to see what 35k miles of boost did to it. With a new MY00 motor in the car, "making somewhere around 260-290hp", his BPM dogbox failed on 3rd gear under cruise. No updates on that yet.

Not much to write an article with the car is in the shop =P
Of course, he probably has enough material to write up an article about more tuning and dynoing.

Shiv is the man to talk to about that. He is the author of the articles and tuner extraordinaire to boot.

Still looking for Shiv....

Yep... it was 35k miles. And no, the motor never failed on the dyno. In fact, I ran out of injector capacity (four 550cc/min injector) at 297 wheel hp with stock fuel rails. Also, no one had a AAA card with free towing (I would have had to get it towed to ISR).

So, finally, on the way to ISR (right in front of their shop), I advance the timing, raised the boost, and induced detonation. Not enough to send pistons and rods flying out of the block. But certainly enough to leave scars. And those scars were centered around, as expected, cyl. #3 (on the piston face and ring land). Hence, the reason I made parallel-feed high flow fuel rails.

Cheers,
shiv

And that, as they say, is that. When can we expect an article? :)
