the light in the center of the roof (door light, i guess, donno what to call it) turns on when the car loses traction or starts moving sideways a little in turns... when it's set to the door mode (on when the door is open) scares me sometimes, esp. at night, why does it do this? has it happened to someone else, and where along the circuit was the problem?

I don't have the same model as you but I have the same problem and just recently worked out what it was for me (pretty simple).

Whenever I go hard around a left hand corner the g-forces push my right forearm hard into the door-trim and push it out enough so that the sensor thinks the door is open and ther light comes on momentarily.

I know it sounds kinda simple but that's the full story and I haven't figured an easy way to fix it yet either. :)

no, heh, i don't think it was that, both my hands were on the wheel, i don't think i had my elbow on the door, but ill be sure to take notice next time, see if i'm just not imagining im not.

Okay I knew it was bit of a longshot but I still think it's something to do with the sensor if it's only coming on momentarily when your car does certain things.

might be. drivers side door is permanently slightly open... when you run your finger along the side it is not flush. some guy told me that the latch on the actual car where the hook on the door attaches too might be out of whack because he moved his and it was back to normal. but the screws were hard to get out and i didnt want to mutilate them... guess i might take it to the dealer for that, i mentioned it before when i went to get 30k service or something but they didn't do anything or bring it up at all... so donno. will check, just wanted to see if it was a reoccuring problem with others too.
