If any of you Know me, you know what I have put my tranny threw. I have been trying to kill my 4EAT since the day I bought the car. So I decided to keep it and do a levelten job on it. It might need a new TC but I don't care about that right now. As soon as I get my Stomung I will take it to the dealer and have them inspect it. I might have some stripped gears, but everything is running fine as far as I know. This is one tough puppy. I will keep you guys updated as far as how the inspection goes. I will also try to get out to the track and get some runs in with the stock tranny and then with the levelten stuff on there. I will post numbers as soon as I can.

What makes the 4EAT stronger than the 5 speed?

do you wnat to kill it badly?

do 10 Neutral drops from redline all in a row daily. that should kill it. you could also drain the tranny fluid and play.

Gasser I am with out I am with a 4eat and I need an excuse to drop a some dough on ana STI but I have yet to brake mine I am upto aprox 15 dry pavment ebrake turns you know the ones that blow the diffs well no luck yet....

I have yet to try the Neutral drops but soon enuff I am sure. brake stands suck the max i get is 3k launch and I just drop RPMs to quick from 3k.

PS. when I do ebrake turns usally at 30mph 180 degress I throw it in Neutral let the debate begin as far as it will blow my tranny the WRC car uses a setup so when they use the ebrake it puts the tranny in Neutral automaticlly til it is realeased maybe they have different diffs etc. But oh well they are fun.

I will post updates and my bills here :)

Instead of blowing up your current tranny for an excuse to buy a new one, why not remove it and sell it before you do blow it up and put the money towards a new tranny??

the auto tranny might be more durable because the torque converter sucks up the impact in changing gears. You can't really slam between shifts and stress the gears. That impact is the worst (or one of the worst) stresses the gears see.

'course, you should be able to throw it in reverse while going down the highway. I hold no responsibility if any such incident occurs :)

"What makes the 4EAT stronger than the 5 speed?" Are you asking why it is stronger, or how to make it stronger. If the latter, then your already there, it comes stronger from the factory plus gets les abuse and shock.

i agree i wish i could afford the level10 stuff. but i am happy it can take up to 350hp. plus if you boost its great to turbo on. no flywheel to buy or clutch.

In an article about the 300zx which has a 4eat tranny it states that after so much HP its better to use the 4eat because when it comes to quarter mile times it easier to hook up. Well keeping it simple. I will scan teh article one of these days it was in "Turbo" magazine a year or so ago. Also didn't trey cobb or some US based tuner say they knew about a impreza with auto hitting on the 9s?
