omori 52mm electric oil temp gauge......

i recently moved the probe to the galley plug because in the oil pan, the needle on the gauge would go crazy at times...190-200-240-300 etc. back and fourth. Then i moved it to the oil galley plug and it was stable at around 205ish. Now it seems to go crazy again back and fourth.200-220-300-200 etc.
engine revs, bumps, weather all seem to affect it.

The wiring all seems good.

what could cause this? possibly bad sensor?? bad gauge??

thanks for any help.

I have recently just started having the same symptoms. My gauge has worked fine for the past year or so. The needle would spike to 240/250 then spike to 300, then back to normal. not necessarily in that order.

I took everything apart this morning, checked the sensor that looked fine, checked the cables, fine. I even plugged in a spare sensor that I know works, and I get the same thing. Now however, the gauge is reading exactly 47deg F too high. The warning light even comes on at 253 where it came on at 205 previously.

So all this leads me to conclude is that the gauge is not working properly. Im gonna try to find if there is an offset adj, on the back of the meter. Somehow its not reading the analog signal properly. There should be a pot that I can turn up or down.

If all else fails Im gonna see if I can get the meter warrantied by the vendor.
