Ok. so i finally got the Blitz EGT gauge wired today... only it doesnt work.
The probe wire wasnt long enough, so I had to order EGT extension wire. I got it here:
http://www.roadraceengineering.com/wideband-allparts.htm
I ordered the egt extension wire for 23$.
anyway, it has a red and yellow wire.
I started out with the basics and did all the wiring not involving the probe. I tapped the yellow wire into the light wire (easy to find since i just did this with the boost gauge). i tapped into the fuse box (radio fuse) using one of those fuse taps that extends into two fuses for the 12v constant power wire. I grounded the black wire onto the chassis. I tapped the red wire into the ACC wire from the clock. All the lighting on the gauge works fine and it comes on...
But here is the problem. When I turn the car on, the needle jumps half way and then goes back down to 0. It doesnt change. I dont know why. when i wired the probe, i wired red to red through the red extension wire and white to white through the yellow extension wire. I switched it and nothing happened and i tried red-white and white-red and nothing happened. or should i say the same thing happened all three times. i am going to go reground it and see if that helps... other than that I dont know what is going on.
Anyone?

someone told me that i shouldnt tap into the ACC but the BAT. So i switched it and the only thing that changed is that the needle jumps all the way up instead of half way. waht now?

ok i also switched where itapped the constant wire... i tapped it also in the BAT wire behind the clock. now the gauge needle doesnt jump, but stays at 0.
any ideas? :(

... when i wired the probe, i wired red to red through the red extension wire and white to white through the yellow extension wire.
I have no experience with this particular gauge - I used the AutoMeter EGT gauge. However, my thermocouple experience and ANSI standard color coding tells me that white and red wires are the color coding for a Type J thermocouple. The red and yellow extension wires with a yellow outer sheath are Type K extension wires. The appropriate extension wires for the Type J probe are red and white with a black sheath. You can not use a Type K extension wire with a Type J thermocouple.

wow thanks so much. i cant believe that.... on the website they say that the extension works for the BLitz gauge! well good to know its prolly not a problem with my probe. thanks again.
