If i unplug the brown connector under the passenger side dash(next to the fuel pump relay) the fuse does not blow. I suck at reading schematics, and i have checked for grounding out on the plug. which ones are grounds? i get a ground signal from the yellow/blue and yellow/red. yellow/blue has 720 ohms resistance, y/r is negligible. what else do i do?

You gotta be able to trace the schemats or you are fodder for the technicians. I traced out an '03 WRX with a non-functional fuel pump and it turned out to be the front O2 sensor was a dead short, popping the 30amp fuse (not the main) under the hood. The guy worked for the local BMW dealership and their "certified" (the MSFT Wireless Elite keyboard doesn't have a <quotation mark> big enough to properly assert my inflection) mechanics woudn't event try to figure it out. Dont be a lemming like the dealerships hire. (not a jab at you... just an opportunity to rag on the ultimate "driving" machine.) (Again I wish I had HUGE quotes.)

What are all your symptoms. Which STi is having the issue. What components stop working with the fuse blown/ with the plug unplugged. And which is SBF5? I can dig through my pdf files if you can narrow the search.

(I'm sure by the use of the word "still" in the topic title that you have another post that'd answer my questions, but I'm a half-can-o-beer away from a good nights sleep so I'm not searchin'.)

this fuse goes to the fuel pump relay, then to the main relay. with it blown the car will not run. its the blue one with the problem. i have unplugged the rear O2, the front O2, and i think its in the wiring somewhere, rather than a component. where is the main relay?

The main relay is the one with the brown connector.
