Thought I'd give this a try again. I need my seat to go DOWN. Last time I posted Subie Gal suggested using a Legacy GT seat, as they are height adjustable. I considered this but GT seat fabric doesn't match the cloth inserts in my Impreza, and someone also posted that a GT seat on the lowest setting is about the same height as an RS seat. I've also read many many posts on adapting a Forester seat bracket to make the seats adjustable, but from what I've read no one seems to have done it successfully or at least they haven't posted about it. Anyone have any other ideas (other than high-dollar aftermarket seats)??? It wouldn't have to be adjustable, even permanently lowering it would be fine. Could I maybe have a custom bracket made?? Safety is also a concern, I don't want flimsy seat brackets. Ideas please??

My STi seats seem slightly lower than the stock RS seats. They probably fit into your high-dollar aftermarket category, though. Will it be enough? Difficult to say -- you won't know until you buy them and bolt them in (and then possibly have to ship them back).
Oddly enough, since they're off a Japanese-spec car, the more adjustable seat is on the right side, not the left. If it weren't for that, the seat could be adjusted even lower.
I wish they would've made RS's without the damn sunroofs...

Thanks Dabbler. I hadn't thought of the STi seats, but you're right they're probably out of my price range.

http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lol.gif I guess so. My RS fits me better than most cars thanks to the slanted kinda high roofline, but I could still use a little bit more room for my noggin. What's really funny is if I have a helmet on.
C'mon Colin, you've got a good idea to help me right?? http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

I know how you feel. With my helmet on, it's a tight fit. Even thought about trying to remove the sunroof, but the STi seats and a smaller shell helmet (Arai instead of my previous Simpson) seems to have alleviated most of the problem.

Well the helmet deal isn't really a problem, I rarely wear one so it's not a big deal.
The deal is this, most of my height is from my waist up. The solution to that is of course lay the seat back "gangsta lean" style. The only problem with that is I guess I have normal arms, because it always feels like I'm reaching to the steering wheel. So I figure, lower the seat toward the floor, so I can raise the seatback up to a more normal position, and then I can reach the steering wheel more comfortably. Easy right??

actually I am having trouble with my RS seats too. See my thighs and knees touches the lower part of the steering wheel. If I move the steering wheel any higher, it would cover up the speedo and tacho! Guess I have long legs by short torso. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/mad.gif
