I'm changing out my 1.8 to a 2.5 soon and wonder if I'm going to need help moving it back and forth. I'm going to use a hoist when I'm installing it, but wonder if I could lift it (bending knees of course) on my own. Does anyone know the approximate weight of the subaru engines? Seems like they would be lighter since most of the block is aluminum? Thanks if anyone knows. I did some searches and couldn't find out.

According to the service tech a couple weeks ago, he sez that he can lift the engine by himself barely. About 175 lbs for the long block.

Thanks for the reply. I should be able to lift it then. The questions I ask must not be very interesting. I usually don't get many responses. Maybe if I post a naked chic pictures and ask "who would have sex with this ..." or make a "Mixed power!" thread.

Those 1.8's are stout little mothers. Very awkward though, don't want to hear that you pulled out your back. Be careful.

me and my dad did a swap from 1.8 to 2.5 and we used a long metal pole and a chain and lifted it right out. One man on each side and the motor in the middle

Thanks for the help. I have a friend going with me who has a relative where the engine is and they will be bringing the engine back in a truck. He'll be helping me put it in the truck and take it out.
