Please be patient while the pictures load, it seems we-todd-did-racing.com is running fairly slow.
I have been experiencing hesitation with my 02 rs for quite some time now. It comes and goes. Throughout this whole ordeal i have replaced O2 sensors, plugs, wires, fuel filters, pcv valves ect.

last time i pulled the plugs and wires. the plugs were fine, but the number 4 terminal was completely corroded and oxidized. green looking. I cleaned this off with a wire brush and the car ran great again. However like i previously mentioned , the hesitation comes and goes.
So today i pulled the plug wires again and the terminals are clean. However i notice that terminal 4 (top Right) is much darker and less shiney than the other terminals. has the coil pack failed?
#4 is top right

what causes the terminal to corrode in the first place? missfire?
I do have an open wrx hoodscoop but i know rs guys have been running open scoops for years.
what else could it be?
could i be feeling the hessitation because of knock based on driving conditions? i dont hear any audiable knock
any input would be appreciated as mentioned, plugs look fine

I have downloaded the Tari racing DL1 Logger, and i am awaiting an odb2 chord. Im hoping i will be able to see what is going on inside the ecu.
thanks
Pat

Mine would do that soley due to miss fire or knock

On my RS that side is closest to the turbo so you can imagine how hot it gets

Thanks for the quick Response, this is why i hope to datalog and see what the knock count looks like. Perhaps i have a faulty sensor

im running an NA engine but when i did my plugs/wires recently...that EXACT tip (top right) was corroded and green. Is this a known issue or something?

yes, likely a bad coil. And yes it seems frequent enough. I have gone through 2.

The only way to be sure is to follow the testing procedures from the FSM:

As I have posted before... my car had a corroded terminal over two years ago (I think). I took a wire brush to it to clean the corrosion off and then put some dielectic grease on all of those connections... no problems since.

When I pulled the terminal off, there was absolutely NO dielectic grease on the terminals... so water was free to get into the connection and corrode the terminal... especially since my hood scoop is open.

Thanks. im going test the coil pack. If it is fine i will clean it and throw on some dielectic grease! if i need a new one! i will put dielectic grease on that one!

Yeah you are not kidding man! hopefully this will all be over soon. I just got a leaky head gasket! car goes into the shop on friday or monday.
will come out with TWE stage 2 cams, valvespring/retainer kit, cometic headgaskets, arp studs, sti Group N tranny mount. New timing belt, new water pump, new seals to stop leaking oil where necessary! thermostat gasket replaced, alternator re-mounted(bent), new belts. check/replace coil pack if necessary.
