end of the summer party on my friends 30 some acres, all the guys started taking their trucks out, doing donuts, or at least trying to, and just making mischief. so i HAD to take the wrx out and show them all up. and i did, BIG TIME, hahaha. as in the most impressive thing they could pull off was, maybe a half to three quarter donut, where as i had my wagon spinning on it's axis!  it was a good one, i impressed myself, and then i heard from everyone else who were all pretty much floored

BUT unfortunately after all the hedenism, the subaru off road machine that it is, my power steering is gone... at first i was just hoping there was just mud/grass packed in somewhere it didn't belong, as the rest of the car was covered. because also upon underhood inspection, the reseviour was still full, and no leaky puddle on driveway, even after sitting for a while. so maybe the pump itself went bad? and if this is the case, which i fear it is, first of all how much will that cost me... and second, why did this break on my "rally car"?
well hopefully it won't cost toooo darn much, because it was pretty much worth it, that's the most fun i've had in that car, and i gave a bunch of truck hicks subaru envy.

.....d00d....FIRST rule of scoobnuts is: NEVER hold the steering wheel at full lock.....it kills the PS pump.

You will need to replace the power steering pump....it is dead.......and bleed/flush the fluid and replace it with M1 syn ATF ;)

...a new pump is ~$350......dunno about re-built ones....a boneyard may be a good bet....

....lotsa posts just like yours, here, right after the first snow of the year......rookies blowin' the damn PS pumps by holdin' full lock-------and all ya gotta do is relax the steering wheel a little, off full lock....and no borked PS pump ;)
