Can someone help me out? I got my oil change yesterday (synthetic) Right after the oil change, my idle seems pretty rough. If the oil level is above the second hole, is it idling rough b/c it's overfilled? I've tried resetting ecu, cleaning the MAP but those can't be it.
Help? ?? would going above the second hole cause rough idling??
if you really overfill it, then you can have problems with the oil foaming up from the crankshaft - don't know if that would cause an erratic idle or not. However - if you added more than 5 quarts, I would drain some out (just drop and empty the filter as needed - should pull ~0.3-0.5qts each time)

You are not overfilled if when the oil is hot it is not over the notch above the top hole. The notch is the maxium HOT oil level. Was anything else done other than the oil change?

thanks for the ideas guys I really appreciate it. I know the engine is overfilled b/c when I check the oil after warm up, it's above the second notch. I haven't seen the oil foaming up yet and it runs fine....I didn't do anything I mean absolutly anything else to the car before the oil change and I don't/can't believe that it can be the IACV being dirty b/c the irradic idle started right after the oil change.
I will definitely pull some oil and try again....thanks for the help and suggestions.

Ok, I dumped out a quart and seems to be running better. Now when the engine is still hot, the dipstick is reading a tad below the second mark.

You should check your oil level only when the engine is cold, like first thing in the morning, after sitting overnight. On a level surface of course. Readings taken at other times tend to be unreliable.
Do this tomorrow. You may find that it's a bit low now.

Hey Mulder,
Actually I did before I warmed up my car today. It was WAY over the second notch, I mean WAYYY over. After I even warmed up my car, it was over the second notch. Thank you for the suggestion though, I got this one solved.
Sincerely,
Steve

Ok then. The lesson you should take from this is from now on, change your own oil. That way you will always know the proper amount was used.

Are you sure the oil change place drained your oil? Did they drain the tranny & add to the engine??
