My passenger door feels very heavy to open/close. It gets little use so I am just realizing this now. I think it could use a lube job. What grease should I use to lube my doors.
Thanks

I use Lubraplate in a spray can. It is a white calcim base grease I think

I think white lithium grease works as well.

Don't wet lubes like grease attract dust which is a bad thing for the hinges?

...hmmm What "dry" options are there.

The only dry option I know of is graphite, which is usually used on door lock assemblies. Search for door lock lubricant and you might find some. As long as you don't goop it on there with a 4" paint brush, wet lubricants are fine in my opinion.

I will make a fourth motion for white grease.

Wurth HHS 2000, the best lube I've used. A bit pricey, but a can will last you for many years.

I need a penetrating spray. I could not get the grease into the hinges. Slopping it around on the outside didn't seem like it was going to help.
maybe i get some of this wurth stuff.

any other thoughts

The Wurth HHS 2000 mentioned above is a penetrating spray that "sets-up", as the carrier dries, into an excellent lubricant.

Description from the web site I linked to:
"A unique, synthetic, heat-resistant, all purpose lubricant that penetrates quickly and adheres completely. It sprays on as a liquid and then dries to a clear semi-solid that does not dry out. HHS 2000 is very water resistant and does not attract dust like silicone based products. This is the ultimate lubricant for sticking or squeaky radio antennas, hinges, suspension bushings, hood shocks, motorcycle/bicycle chains, wire cables, mechanical linkages, etc."

LPS-1 greaseless lubricant, made by LPS Laboratories . The carrier evaporates, leaving a lubricating film.

You can Google it on the web

(I can't post urls yet)

yes, simple, cheap, dries to a pretty thick consistancy after a bit of time making it both viscous and tenacious. Want fancy, get the one with teflon in it, but be prepared for the door closing on you on the slightest incline.

Yeah, I loved this stuff for my R/C car back in the day. you get a banana  just wasnt sure if it was good good for the door application.

I'm still in the debate with the wurth stuff or de hinging the door to get the white stuff where it counts. Thinking of cleaning the sunroof tracks and regreazzzin in there too.

I use a teflon spray that forms a dry film - seems to work well

I would have to agree...we use White Lithium Grease in the spray form during every service and we have yet to see any negative effects of this or any problems with door hinges. It hold up well to extreme hear or cold and will generally outlast an array of other types of grease.

Thanks,

Follow Up: I went with AndyH's recomendation of wurth 2000. So far so good. + it was easier than using a 4" paintbrush.

I used it in my sunroof too. There was a vibration when it was opening or closing. Itv smoothed right out.

I'll post again if it seems to wear out quickly.

The wurth is holding up well after about a month.
