I got my limited lip installed...had to pay some scrilla to order it painted...but I got it and its installed...now I miss my wing
thinking about lining up a trade but Im not sure if Im ready to actually do it right away. Who has a perfectly mint 07 Satin White Pearl Sti trunk with Wing and all badges? My limited trunk is SWP perfect condition with only the middle emblem on it.

Since this wing swap thing wont work, I am currently saying F it and taking my wrx wing off and welding the holes, easy job just been lazy. My car is PSM so if anyone wants the same wingless trunk done let me know I have been building street rods and restorations for years so this is a simple task. Just thought I would get a bite on this thread, but NOPE now i cant be lazy.

I agree, this trunk swap thread is pretty worthless. Everyone wants a wingless and nobody wants to trade them or even sell them.

I think I'm going to do the same thing (weld and repaint). I have a nice sized dent to fix anyway. Do you paint your projects as well?

Yes yes i do. I learned from the best "old hot rodders" From restorations to full customs. I dont know it all but who does Im always learning. I have been painting anything from basic single stage to tri coat base coat clear. I use valspar product, due to the jump in price for PPG, and if valspar is a ok for house of color its aok for me. I do color changes from goddy to modern, aero kits, fiberglass work weld fabricate quarters fenders ect... Although I dont have the tig for aluminum so dont ask about modding hoods. I have a four bay shop for my hobbies out of oregon city, although i live in Canby. Hit me up if any work needed. I have 2 gallons of BMW Seca blue for sale if any one is up for a dramatic blue.:alien:

Your not welding steady, you tack weld small dots till you have covered the hole, like when you tighten a wheel down you go side to side. So you dont warp the thin jap metal. Stich weld look it up any one with your basic mig welder can do it, just make sure to have a cool rag for heat shrinking. I will do a detailed post when i get the time. From basic welding to body work and paint. If anyone one is afraid to do it or need paint and fab, body work done hit me up I need more subie parts and with kids funds are getting slim. :sadbanana:

i would be interested in a detailed thread. i dont even know what your talking about with the rag. i can weld things on my yota wheelin rig no problem but id be scared to touch the trunk cause like you said, jap sheet metal is very thin. i havent used my mig since i bought it. my 220 lincoln stick welder works fine for the things i usually weld. anyways yea let us know when you make a thread, who knows maybe ill give it a shot.

that's not true. I had srp wrx before, and it came wingless. Then, I put ebay sti like wing there before real sti came out in 2004. so subaru did make wingless red trunks ;) but it's going to be hard to find it now.

yeah, i think the STi has like 6 holes(not positive), and the wrx has 2, maybe 4.
