My brother is driving the car and suddenly a small portion of his foot that feels cold/wet, there is water dripping on it. Both he and I suspected it was the A/C, but felt that any leakage shouldn't be coming into the car.

Any idea what the problem is?

Thanks

The drain hose for the evaporator housing may be disconnected, clogged or kinked allowing water from the AC to back up and leak inside the passenger compartment. The hose is attached to the bottom of the HVAC box on the passenger side, and exits through the firewall on that side. You should be able to inspect it for any problems.
If your car is still under warranty you can also have a dealer check it.

How do I inspect it? The reason I'm asking is because you used a lot of language I am not familiar with (eg what any of those components look like or are) so I need a little more instruction on checking it out myself. I will check the warranty but I think it's already up.

Thanks

Open the passenger side door, and lie down looking behind the center console area on that side. It may help to remove the mat and peel back the carpet. Under there is a large black housing, that is the "HVAC" unit that contains the AC evaporator as well as the heater core and vent ducting. At the bottom of that unit, you should see a black rubber hose about 1" in diameter that goes down and toward the front of the car, that is the drain hose. It should be firmly attached to the housing and not kinked anywhere. If you look under the hood on that side you will see the hose exiting through the firewall on the other side.
If the hose has come off inside the car, that is your problem. Just put it back on. If it looks ok and is attached, pull it off the housing and check to see if it is clogged. It can be checked/cleared by blowing compressed air through it or by pushing a flexible rod of some sort through it.
