RidinLow 05-29-2001, 06:02 PM Rear bars RS: 13mm WRX Wagon: 17mm WRX Sedan: 19mm (IIRC) They're all interchangable. b_tapper 05-29-2001, 06:07 PM Yes it works, got one on my 2002RS. I think there are some pics here http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Forum32/HTML/000014.html -Brian AndyHidley 05-30-2001, 05:26 AM 2002 WRX stock rear bar is 20mm, and the stock front bar is 20mm also Subie Gal 05-30-2001, 07:38 AM yes you can swap em... you can even swap em w/the 01 RS... we've done a test fit... the sway bars are interchangable... j. www.subiegal.com (http://www.subiegal.com) Keith 05-30-2001, 08:01 AM "the sway bars are interchangable" you dont mean that my whiteline bar from my 99rs would fit my wrx do u? If so...someones gonna die!!! I sold my bar because i thought it didnt fit!! Ahhh Keith John Stephens 05-30-2001, 08:05 AM I have the WRX rear sway bar on my 02 RS and it makes a big difference. I would be careful when you consider other year swaps. When I got my bar I called several vendors and they said it was differnt. Ordered through Subaruparts.com and Scott said they had differnt part number. Alot of people say they are the same but why not get the right one? RidinLow 05-30-2001, 08:13 AM That's funny, SCC wrote that Subaru said that although shocks & springs would transfer from the old car to the new one, swaybars wouldn't because of a new shape. Poseidon 05-30-2001, 09:21 AM Well, the rear bars are definitely the same as one from the older model. Can't confirm that on the front bars. I went ahead and bought both front and rear bars from a WRX owner that upgraded. My rear end is crazy-tight now http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif Erm... the car's rear end, that is http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif Jordan RidinLow 05-30-2001, 09:27 AM Heh, wish I hadn't sold my Whiteline bar then. Subie Gal 05-30-2001, 10:04 AM i took my stock bar from my 01 RS... and put it right on to an 02 WRX... dont know how else to say it... we did a test fit... "just to see" and it worked... j. www.subiegal.com (http://www.subiegal.com) Keith 05-30-2001, 10:37 AM that sux!!!!! Ahh man, now I'm kinda pissed. I bet you the ALK probably is the same also. AHAHAHAHA one more thing to add to my list of getting screwedhttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif Keith RidinLow 05-30-2001, 10:40 AM Well Keith, when you get another rear swaybar for your WRX, I'll take the stock one off your hands. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif chibi 05-30-2001, 10:47 AM Hey What's the sway bar sizes for a 2002 OBS? And can I upgrade them? thanks b_tapper 05-30-2001, 10:50 AM 13mm and you can upgrade it -Brian AndyHidley 05-31-2001, 05:25 AM Poseidon.. I'm glad you like it Keith 05-31-2001, 07:41 AM Good thinkin garrickhttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif ahahaha How much money u gots biznitch! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif Keith Kagato 05-31-2001, 12:10 PM how big of a deal is it to swap the sway bars out on a car? im mechanically inclined, so its not a big deal to do the work, but is it a simple swap, or am i taking off a buncha stuff to get to the bar? just curious! Poseidon 05-31-2001, 02:19 PM Well, on my RS, the rear one was super-simple. 4 bolts out, remove old bar, put in new bar, replace bolts. The front one was only slightly more complicated, because I had to remove a little metal plate that was covering the center of the bar. I did both in about 40 minutes with just hand tools. One thing to remember is that you should NOT jack the car up. The weight of the car should be on the wheels. Ramps work great and make the job easier, but I don't think you actually need them. Jordan Prog 05-31-2001, 02:41 PM wasnt the WRX sedan bar 20mm? my friend has an FHI 20mm and its the same as my WRX's http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/confused.gif [This message has been edited by ProgWRX (edited May 31, 2001).] b_tapper 05-31-2001, 02:55 PM It must be the ramps... I ended up taking the lr rear tire off and taking the muffler off the bushings to get the rear swaybar in. It must be me I guess... The wrx sedan bar and FHI bar are the same exact part. Brian p7r4e7y 05-31-2001, 11:26 PM on the wrx its simple to change the rear bar 7 minutes tops the front however i took to a friends shop so he could lift the car and easily ise air tools. there are a coulple bolts that are hiding behind the sub-frame, which i didnt want to take off. so i let him do get in there with some bendy socket deals. HoratioCaine 06-01-2001, 12:01 AM Hey Jamie wasn't that Poseidon's '02 RS we put your old bar on as a test? And of course the WRX will have different part numbers... it's a bigger bar. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif S Leung 06-01-2001, 12:03 AM Just wondering if I replace the sway bars with Cusco. What settings is the best? ALso with the Rear Tower bar? Thanks! driver 06-01-2001, 12:37 AM So, what is the size of the 2002 rs stock front bar? Subie Gal 06-01-2001, 07:30 AM yeah Nick (horatio) true... the wrx will be a diff size "mm" but the same style/shape bar as the chassis is the same... no idea on the fronts guys... you can do the testing for that on your own... hehehe... j. |
