The local gas station had a faulty gas pump, which caused gas to spill all over my car. The auto shutoff didn't work, so gas poured out of my gas tank and onto my car before I could pull the pump out and let go.

I thought I cleaned most of it up, but unfortunately there is a lightly discolored streak left from gas that the wind blew back. Now I can't seem to get off, only lighten it up... but it is still there.

Anyone have any ideas on what to use to clean up these stains?

It doesn't help to have a white car.... *I really hate the color white*

a cleaner wax should take it of - if that doesn't work, try a mild rubbing compound (like a swirl mark remover) - that should clean/polish it up.

thanks for your suggestions/advice... I will give them a try and see how they do.

FYI... I also bought a clay bar as I had alot of 'dots' from something that stuck onto the car's finish while it sat at the dealer's lot. Almost like some residue from a construction project. You can feel them as you run your hand across the hood.

thanks again
