Loeb targets Finland win

Reigning champion and current title favourite Sebastien Loeb has said he really wants to win next weekend's Neste Rally Finland and sees no reason why he can't achieve that aim. The Frenchman has admitted, however, that he won't push for his seventh win in a row and will settle for points if he can't overcome the local Scandinavian experts.

I wonder if they will need to update his software for this.

He's actually been ordered by the team not to push it trying to win. Another finish at all costs thing. They really want to beat Puegot.

Sounds like Petter rolled on SS8. Lost his wing and nosed in landing all the jumps. All is well though, he finished but moved down to fifth. I just wished I could watch this live, listening just doesn't do it justice :(

Hope Petter or Marcus wins...and well, if it's Sebastien, great, he's a great driver and deserves it too...but my fav will always be the SWRT...Let's see how they do on the second and third legs...

The co-drivers are gettting beat up this race. The radio made it sound like no big deal but, I just watched the video and Rautianen and Elena both got hurt bad enough they couldn't really continue giving pace notes. Ratutianen is just making groaning noises and clutching himself. They shot him up with pain killers at service and sent him back out there. Elena is just making puffing noises and in clear pain. What a thankless job those guys have. At least they should buy them some better seats.

FREE RALLY RADIO!?!?!??!

Subscribing to WRC+ is really worth it. They let you watch all the raw footage from each days leg. No commentary or graphics. Just cool rally footage and raw audio. They have intervies from each day too. It's the same footage they ship off to TV people to make thier coverage out of. The 'Close Calls' stuff is great too. The rally radio is ok. The people doing it are nice but, man your about ready to kill after listening to top of the British pops for a couple hours straight. Somehow stuff you would only find on Radio Disney here makes it on the radio there.

Petter seems to be off the pace this year. I don't think it's the tyres since Gronholm is running Pirelli's. I was hoping for a 2nd half resurgence like he's done in the past.

After SS13,

Gronholm extends his lead to 19.3 seconds over Loeb
Solberg still in 5th, I think he's up to a minute behind now.

I think they just said Solberg is not happy with his brakes/brake balance. He doesn't feel like he has control of the car. He's still close to 1'20 down. :(


NEW: They suffered 100% brake failure at 150kph!!

Luckly, they managed to slow down in time without damage (transmission on the radio was breaking up, so I'm not sure if that's 100% true, but they didn't take any critical damage)

They also had to finish the rest of the stage with 3 wheel braking, one rear went out, so it was like pulling the E-brake every corner.

Fixed now, getting ready for the next stage. Two stages left, and the next one is 40kms long. Hopefully they can eat away at gronholm's lead with this.

Nicky Grist has just moved up a couple spots on the cool list.
In his stories on the radio, he talks about how he and Colin Mcrae went rallying the other day in a MKII Escort, RWD. Funny ish.

I stayed up till 1130 last night to watch it and all I got was an extended Wind Tunnel featuring Wind Bag.

Was a great rally, though. Loeb still did quite well considering he hadn't done all that great in the past (not horrible, but not great). Was nice to see someone other than him win, and if it's not gonna be our boy Petter, Gronholm is a fine choice.

Poor guy has had to deal with a car that doesn't like him for way too long now. I hope the suspension they tried in Martin's car works for Gronholm -- that way we might have another contender up top (especially since Petter hasn't done so hot lately).

My prediction on Martin and Gardemeister was spot on.

What a lame rally. Now, Sebastian is driving conservative. Round 10/16, to damn early. I would have really liked to see Passonen, Carlsson and Lindholm do better things to make the rally mo' interesting.

Oh well. Off to Germany. And surprise, Petter is again claiming a great comeback.....
